26 Things To Help Introduce Sports To Your Kids

Some fun and easy ways to have your favorite sport (hopefully) become your child's favorite, too.

1. A T-ball set for toddlers that's easy to store (thanks to its “hang-on-the-wall” design and ball bag) and even easier for lil' sluggers to take their hacks and swing for the fences. Just give them a few years before you have the "exit velocity" conversation.

2. Or a weather-resistant adjustable batting tee constructed from durable rubber and steel to help hitters from T-ball through all levels of little league (and beyond) to "keep their eye on the ball" and adjust those swings. Plus it's built to last!

3. A Little Tikes basketball set with six adjustable heights and three basketballs for the most rim-rocking and dazzling dunks anyone under the age of 5 can throw down. The only dribbling here, however, will be coming out of the mouths of toddlers learning to hoop it up.

4. A Franklin junior football made of durable rubber (so you can't call this one "the ol' pigskin") that's fit for smaller hands and can take an absolute beating on grass or concrete and keep coming back for more.

5. A VTech sports center that should inspire you and your kids to get up off the couch, stop watching Sports Center, and go score some goals or shoot some hoops together.

6. A team-of-your-choice NHL mini-hockey set if your goal is to get your kids into your favorite franchise while gauging their interest in the game without actually having to get out on the ice. Score!

7. A colorful indoor/outdoor toddler golf set for first-timers to practice their puts and drives without having to play a full 18 (only two holes here). And everything stores conveniently in the "golf cart." Just make sure they tip the caddy!

8. A pair of anti-fog, UV-protected Speedo child swim goggles so would-be water babies can become accustomed to the underwater depths without chlorine or salt-water stinging their eyes.

9. A soft "Easy Catch" ball and glove set that uses Velcro to improve initial hand-to-coordination and keep the frustration levels of learning a new sport to a minimum. Gold Glovers gotta start somewhere!

10. An LED light-up bow and arrow archery set so little Hawkeyes and Katnisses can take aim at a new outdoor hobby and bullseye some suction cup projectiles.

11. A 3-in-1 Nerf basketball hoop hamper that's truly an "investment piece." Kids (and adults, hi) can use the mini-basketball to drain buzzer beaters and the laundry bag to dunk those dirty clothes and for target practice with any Nerf blaster. Why didn't we have this as kids?

12. And if hoops aren't their thing, a two-player Nerf foam tennis set with oversized rackets for playing on grass, clay, concrete, or any indoor/outdoor surface without ever having to worry about reserving a court time.

13. A pair of foldable, pop-up soccer nets with a carrying case so no matter the pitch, the kids will be able to practice or play some footie. Goallllll!!!!

14. A hydro lacrosse set to introduce the "official summer sport of Canada" to newbies with a smaller and easier-to-handle stick and the option to play in the pool.

15. An inflatable kids' football target toss game so would-be QBs can practice throwing their tightest spirals. Hit the "receiver," and it pops right back up (sort of like the real thing). Comes with two footballs and an air pump. Parents will definitely want to play with this one too!

16. A 4-pack of oversized foam baseballs because softballs are deceptively named, and these will absolutely not break a window (but could take out a vase or knock over a lamp).

17. A Gator Golf game that'll prepare young players for their first visit to Putt-Putt. Sink one in the plastic reptile's mouth, and its tail will send the ball right back!

18. A 20-pack of sports training cones with a tote bag for setting up soccer drills, obstacle courses, or any other athletic activity involving running back and forth.

19. A set of 12 easy-to-set-up and disassemble tree climbing holds to create a backyard rock-climbing wall without the rocks or walls. Can accommodate up to 230 pounds of climber!

20. A lightweight body board for kids that could be a great gateway for surfing or, at the very least, a fun time at the beach or pool. Comes with a leash with a wristband to keep the board from sailing away.

21. A foldable and portable baseball and softball hitting, fielding, and pitching net to keep kids practicing all year long, even when there's no one else around to play with.

22. A stunning, super-light, aluminum-framed Woom "Original" bike (which comes in seven sizes, from balance bikes for beginners to cycles for tweens and teens) to give your kids a truly safe and thoughtfully-built opportunity not only to learn to ride but eventually become an experienced cyclist and then maybe even get into BMX.

23. An iPlay, iLearn kids' golf toy set to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination with clubs that adjust in length to a young golfer's height. Works for righties and lefties too!

24. A Whirly Board spinning balance board for fun agility training (for kids and adults), especially for those future skaters of America! It's made from Canadian maple skateboard decks and topped with grip tape, so you don't have to worry about them slipping off.

25. An indoor/outdoor training basketball for shooters that can teach proper hand positioning and shooting technique for foul shots, pull-up jumpers, and 3-point buzzer beaters.

26. And a kick-out basketball return attachment because kids don't usually have more than one ball to play with, and they'll spend more time chasing it down than actually practicing. This rotating chute returns made shots in the direction of the shooter. Swish!
