You got Sub-Zero, the Patriarch of the Lin Kuei clan. His abilities include the manipulation of ice and nearly incomprehensible martial arts training.

The original champion of Earthrealm, Liu Kang has met a fate worse than death. After dying to Shai Kahn, Liu Kang's soul was captured by Shinnok to be utilized in his revenant army.

The right-hand man of Shinnok, Quan Chi has found increased power in the presence of the Fallen Elder God. With his affinity with magic Quan Chi seeks to help destroy everything that is not Netherrealm.

Originating from Edenia, Kitana fought for Shao Kahn until her affection for Liu Kang brought her to the side of Liu Kang. Unfortunately, Kitana, the love of Liu Kang, met the same fate. She now serves Shinnok as a revenant.

The god of thunder and protector of Earthrealm, Raiden is always a key component in the plot of Mortal Kombat. He acts as a guide for the other protectors of Earthrealm and when needed he brings the thunder and the lightning.
