Someone Set Up A Passport Control Checkpoint On The Scottish Border

A vision of things to come?

If you were driving past Carter Bar near Jedburgh on Monday morning you might have bumped into the very first 'Scottish Border Agency' checkpoint.

The hastily-erected barrier is due to open on 19 September, the day after the independence referendum poll.

Except it's actually the work of Manchester-based photographer Jon Parker Lee who says he did it to try and take some of the anger out of the debate: "We're not making a point for either side. We've staged this together as a group of Scots and English."

Still, always worth planning for every eventuality.

And the team behind it found the world's most stereotypically Scottish man to try it out. It's not clear whether he made it through to the other side of the border.
