If You Hate Cleaning But Love A Neat Home, Here’s Some Things To Make Life Easier

Nothing wrong with a few lazy hacks.

🛁 Clean little and often 🛁

As tempting as it is to do your cleaning as a once-a-week blitz the house jobby, this often leaves you DREADING the task at hand. Hoovering every few days and dusting when you notice the first signs of the dreaded fluff makes it seem so much less daunting at the end of the week. Plus, if you've ever tried to wet clean a dusty bathroom, you'll know the frustration is real! I tick my daily tasks off once they're done so I feel like I've achieved something.

📓 Here are some things I'd use throughout the week 📓

This totally genius daily shower cleaner can be sprayed directly onto the glass after your morning shower. It doesn't need to be rinsed so there's no need to add time to your getting-ready routine. It helps to give a once-over between bigger bathroom cleans.

I don't know about you, but my blinds get super dusty. These purpose-built blind cleaners make it quick and easy to glide over your blinds, removing surface fluff.

And for cleaning skirting boards, cobwebs, and surfaces, a duster like this extendable one is a must-have. It'll help you to reach awkward spaces with minimum effort – that's what we like to hear!

Give your carpets a lil' refresh with this fine carpet foam. You can simply spray on and leave (it smells amazing IMO!), or you can hoover after – it's up to you!

If you have pets, children, or you're particularly accident prone yourself, I'd recommend always having this Dr. Beckmann stain remover in your cleaning stash. The built-in brush head acts as a scrubbing device that dispenses the liquid, making it easy to grab in a wine-dropping emergency!

This 'lemon zing' Zoflora disinfectant spray is one of my all-time fave cleaning buys! It can be used on both hard and soft surfaces. It gives a light mist, rather than too much of a 'wet' spray, so it's ideal for disinfecting touch-points or freshening up fabrics such as sofas or bedding between washes.

I wouldn't be without my Vileda spray mop. It dispenses the cleaning solution as you go, eliminating the need for a messy mop and bucket scenario! It's as convenient for little spillages as it is for a deep clean.

This carpet lint remover (similar to ones seen all over CleanTok) is ideal if you have pets that shed, or if your own hair always ends up on the carpet (ahem, not me, honest!)

🚿 Scrub the shower while you're IN the shower 🚿

I heard a few people talking about this, and when I tried it, it honestly changed my life. Cleaning the shower has always been one of my least fave chores; all that contorting into different positions, scrubbing, and trying not to get wet, it's all a bit too much effort if you ask me.

My new go-to shower cleaning routine shaves serious time off my chores, so hear me out. After you've had your shower, grab your cleaning cloth of choice. The scrub-down is done in seconds, and you can rinse with ease, safe in the knowledge that your socks won't end up damp – vom!

Remember to always check the label of your cleaning products as they may not be suitable to be near your skin in the shower, and it's super important to keep your bathroom well-ventilated too.

🧼 Here are some of my fave bathroom cleaning buys 🧼

This washing-up brush that dispenses liquid can be used in the shower to gently scrub glass.

This Elbow Grease glass cleaner is ideal for windows, mirrors, and glass. It leaves a streak-free shine on pesky fingerprints and shower screens that are in need of some TLC.

I've yet to find something that works better on most metal surfaces than this stainless steel cleaning spray. It gives a streak-free shine with next to no scrubbing.

This limescale remover spray helps to remove soap scum and deposits from tiles and shower doors.

⌛ Leave products to get to work ⌛

Now, I'll preface this one with a disclaimer; always read the directions for use on the bottle of your cleaning product of choice. I must admit, I'm a little lazy when it comes to scrubbing, so provided it's safe, I often find that leaving a product on for a while requires less elbow grease on your part.

🧻 Here are some of my most-used hard-working cleaning products 🧻

The Pink Stuff cream cleaner is so good for so many things. It can be used to get rid of stains on a variety of surfaces, making it a multi-purpose buy.

Let's face it, cleaning feels so much easier when the products smell good. Zoflora concentrated disinfectant can be diluted and used on loads of areas around the home including floors, baths, tiles, dishcloths, and more. I often add some to my sink with some water and leave it for a while so that the scent fills the room. It kills 99.9% of bacteria too, FYI.

This all-purpose Elbow Grease degreaser is great for tackling caked-on mess on kitchen surfaces (AKA one of my cleaning pet hates!).

🧽 Invest in good cleaning tools 🧽

Half the battle of cleaning is in getting the correct tools and products to do the job. A degreaser that's actually effective should eliminate some of the effort you have to put in, while having the right dusting tool for tight spaces is a total game-changer. These might seem like slightly boring purchases, but trust me, they're total time-savers for your weekly cleaning routine.

🤩 Here are some of my cleaning tool BFFs 🤩

If there's one thing I loathe keeping in the bathroom, it's gross toilet brushes. This Duck 'fresh brush' has a flushable and replaceable head so you can kiss goodbye to the ick.

These flower-adorned Swedish dishcloths are super-absorbent and can hold up to twenty times their own weight in water, making them super handy for wet cleaning or mopping up spillages.

And I've made no secret of my love for the 'thirsty' Spunj sponges that hold up to seven times their own weight in water.

This extendable tile scrubber can really help to give bathrooms a good clean. It's also great for fitting into awkward spaces around sinks and toilets, meaning less cleaning acrobatics for you!

I've used a very handy Scrub Daddy sponge for everything from the dishes to tough dried-on oven stains. Be careful as it's pretty abrasive, but IMO it's one of the best heavy-duty cleaning tools out there. It has a special 'FlexTexture' which changes depending on your water temperature. It also washes pretty well after use, FYI.

For those of us who don't want achy arms and wrists, the super nifty SonicScrubber exists. I've used mine to clean tiles, grouting, and even trainers in the past. It's basically an electric brush that oscillates to give your item of choice a deep clean.

🧹 Don't ignore the areas that aren't as obvious 🧹

We all forget about cleaning under appliances or on top of curtain rails, but doing this regularly can help to make sure dirt and grime don't build up, stopping the area from becoming super hard to clean in the long run.

It's so easy to clean your dishwasher and washing machine because there's products that do the job for you. You need to do little more than put a cycle on with your chosen cleaning product in many cases, but it saves a lotta hassle further down the line.

👀 Here are some products to sort those areas you probably always forget about 👀

Show your dishwasher some TLC by investing in this deep cleaner. It eliminates odour and grease, and I don't know about you, but I just sleep better at night knowing my dishes are going into a sparkling dishwasher!

And this lemon-scented washing machine cleaner has a 5-in-1 action that includes killing 99.9% of bacteria, removing limescale, and getting rid of hidden dirt.

This flexible radiator cleaning brush gets into narrow spaces with ease.

If you have teeny-tiny areas that gather dust, then this gap-slot cleaning brush might be just the thing you need.

☕ Finally, have a cleaning reward and take regular breaks ☕

Okay, so I'm not talking school-style star charts here, but whether you rarely have time to sit on your own with a cuppa and a magazine, or you just want to be left to fantasise about being that girl while scrolling through TikTok, add 'you' time to your day. Take regular breaks if you feel hot and bothered, or reward yourself at the end of your task list – knowing I have something to enjoy after always makes it feel a teeny bit less painful!

🍪 Here are some tea break things I'd add to my basket... 🍪

These dark caramel teabags are a total steal at just £2, and who wouldn't want to whizz through the cleaning for a chance to sit down with this?

This hot cross bun chocolate sounds like the perfect spring treat for after your spring clean!

And these Wispa biscuits sound like a top-tier post-cleaning snack!
