Now I can imagine that you might be wondering what started the topic of placenta eating. Fair enough.

My wife is pregnant with our second baby and she was watching a YouTube video that mentioned eating the placenta. This made me curious to see if there really were benefits from this. I also just needed a topic to fulfill a school assignment. I learned the most with reason #5 though! Additionally, the tradition of a mother eating her placenta after giving birth, has been around since as early as 1578. Most likely even further back, but there is no written proof.

1. Increase Milk Supply

Simply put, the hormones found in the placenta increase the mother's production of milk which can be a real problem for many.

5. Increased Understanding from Spouses

After researching this and looking at one too many pictures of placentas, I genuinely felt VERY nauseous for the rest of the night. I was also able to relate a lot more to my wife and her 20 weeks worth of terrible, morning sickness. Oh and yeah I did end up puking later that night.
