A Great Question Has Been Answered, Hot Dogs Are Not Sandwiches

One of life's greatest questions has finally been answered.

A debate has been raging for a while on whether a hot dog is a sandwich. The debate has divided families, torn friendships apart, and started numerous fights.

Many people have sat and pondered whether a hot dog is in fact a sandwich. Many have struggled with the question, but for all those who have tortured themselves with this conundrum, torture yourself no more.

On Friday, the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, America's governing body on hot dogs, announced that hot dogs are in a category all their own.

The NHSC made their announcement in a press release, which reads, in part:

Limiting the hot dog's significance by saying it's "just a sandwich" is like calling the Dalai Lama "just a guy."

Perhaps at one time its importance could be limited by forcing it into a larger sandwich category (no disrespect to Reubens and others), but that time has passed, said NHDSC President and "Queen of Wien" Janet Riley.

We therefore choose to take a cue from a great performer and declare our namesake be a "hot dog formerly known as a sandwich."

    Yup, it's been officially confirmed.

So there you have it. While a hot dog may be many things, it certainly isn't a sandwich.
