Jokes and memes aside, Bird Box left a lot of questions answered. One of the big was being, "What do the unseen entities actually look like"?
We kind of got a hint of what they might have looked like in the scene where Gary is getting artsy with images that invoke sheer terror.
Well, Instagram account SFX ATLAS solved that mystery by sharing a picture collage of what one version of the monsters were supposed to look like.
Creature Designer and Sculptor Andy Bergholtz who worked on the film shared more pics and offered some backstory on the creatures in his Instagram comment.
Ultimately, the scene with the creatures never made the film, and director Susanne Bier told Bloody Disgusting why she thought is was best to leave them out.
Whatever those beings are, they tap into your deepest fear. Everybody’s deepest fear is going to be different from the other person. I think to suddenly take upon a concrete shape in order to illustrate that becomes weak. Where the conceit is really strong, then trying to illustrate it is kind of almost meaningless. So it would have been the wrong decision.
