A Snake Uncoiled From The Roof Of A Plane To The Shock Of Passengers

"It was a frightening situation," one passenger who tweeted video of the snake accurately described.

On Sunday, Indalecio Medina tweeted this video of a snake on Aeroméxico Flight 231 from Torreon to Mexico City.

La vibora voladora...ja ja ja. Una experiencia única en el Vuelo Torreón-México, vuelo 231 de Aeroméxico. Eso si...… https://t.co/KUopRP4WDf

The video shows a green snake hanging from the a gap between the ceiling and the overhead storage compartment.

It then uncoiled quickly to the shock and dismay of the passengers.

Medina told the Associated Press that the snake then dropped to the floor, and people quickly moved out of the way while a flight attendant trapped it with blankets.

"It was a frightening situation, but people remained calm because it didn't get out of that space and nobody became hysterical," Medina said. "Some people got up to see what kind of reptile it was, but nobody got carried away."

The rest of the crew reacted quickly as they radioed ahead to get priority landing in Mexico City. When they landed, passengers exited through the back while animal control came in to get the snake.

According to ABC News, an airline spokesperson said they were investigating the matter and what can be done to prevent it from happening again.

That's good, 'cause not many people are comfortable with loose snakes on a plane.

BuzzFeed News has reached out to Medina and Aeromexico for comment.
