17 Products That People Say Changed Their Lives In 2018

From skincare to tech, there's really something for everyone.

We hope you love the products we recommend! Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which products changed their lives in 2018. Here are some of their responses!

1. A dry shampoo that revitalises oily hair

Space NK

"I have thick, curly hair that is oily and dandruff prone. I had given up on dry shampoo until I discovered this stuff. I hate having to wash my hair every day or even every other day because my ends get too dry and frizzy. With this stuff I can go three or four days between washes and my scalp feels amazing! I don't have any flakes (I also use an anti-dandruff shampoo on days I wash my hair). I finally found a combination of products that work! I have brown hair and I found the best way to use this product is to apply it to my roots at night so it has time to really absorb the oils on my scalp. Plus, I wake up with no white residue. This stuff smells great too!"

Get it here from Space NK, £23.

2. An insulated flask that will keep drinks hot for six hours

"I don’t know how I lived before it!"

Get one here from Amazon, £22.52 - £34.56.

3. A dry erase calendar to help organise your life

"I’ve always been the kind of person to just have a teeny wall calendar and only really ever marked down birthdays and vacations. This year, our daughter started school and I started an on-call job and because we recently moved to Florida, we suddenly had a lot of family visiting at all times of the year. Colour-coding school functions, work days, visitors,’s amazing! I have a tendency to be a little spacey so it’s been a huge game changer for me this year."

Get one here from Amazon, £14.97.

4. A Litter Genie to keep your cat's litter tray clean and the house smelling fresh

"I just purchased two Litter Genies, and they are such a game changer. I have three cats and live in an apartment in the city, and I no longer have to take the walk of shame to the garbage can outside of my local pizzeria to deposit my daily grocery bag of cat poo. I can now scoop every day and be rest assured in knowing that my apartment will remain daisy-fresh until trash day."

Get it here from Amazon, £17.72.

5. A chemical exfoliant to leave you with smooth and soft skin

"Glossier's The Solution is one of the only things that really made a difference on my skin this year. As someone with sensitive skin and lots of allergies, including fragrance, it's hard for me to find anything to put on my face without immediately having a reaction to it. Not only does my skin feel great but after continual use my acne as gotten so much better. I can't recommend it enough."

Get it here from Glossier, £19.

6. A cosy bralette you'll actually want to wear

Richer Poorer

"Life-changing purchase. I sleep in this thing. It's that good."

9. A car seat blanket that comes with handles, so you can safely and easily put your baby in and out of the car

The Snuglbundl - "I've just had my third baby and I wish I had known about it before. It makes transferring her from the carseat to the buggy so smooth."

– Rachel Ireland via Facebook

Get it here from Amazon, £32.74.

11. A pair of wireless headphones that are perfect for the gym

John Lewis

"I resisted getting them forever because they seemed so expensive, but I also couldn't find any other wireless headphones that I liked, so I ended up reluctantly buying them...and discovered that going wireless makes EVERYTHING so much easier. I call my parents and friends more, I exercise more, and I work better because it's less of a pain to put on some good focusing music. Such a great product!"

Get them here from John Lewis, £159.

12. And a classic bell alarm clock for anyone more old-school

"Buying a classic bell alarm clock really changed my life in 2018. I'm a really heavy sleeper so I have a habit of sleeping through my phone alarm, but my alarm clock is just too loud to sleep through. I get a better night's sleep with my clock as I know there's no chance of me oversleeping! I really recommend it for all the deep sleepers out there!!"

Get it here from Amazon, £9.49.

13. An electric toothbrush to give your teeth a truly thorough clean

"Complete game changer!"

Get one here from Amazon, £30.

14. A Vitamix blender that you can make and heat soup in

Vitamix UK

"It’s so freaking expensive but it is definitely worth it. We used it all the time to heat up soups and you could probably blend rocks with the blender without breaking it!"

Get it here from Vitamix, £349.

15. An SPF that also guards against pollution

"I kept hearing about how vital it was to have an SPF on your face and I finally caved in and got one. It's the Clarins multi-protection sunscreen. It's super light and you can't even feel you're wearing it, but it guards against pollution and has a MASSIVE SPF 50 in it."

Get it here from Feelunique, £32.50.

16. A high-end powder that leaves your skin looking radiant

Cult Beauty

"The Hourglass Ambient Light powder is incredible, even if I’m having a bad skin day it covers everything up and makes my skin look so glowy and healthy. I get compliments on my skin every time I use it! It’s pricey but so worth every penny."

Get it here from Cult Beauty, £42.

17. A pair of moccasins that are a combination of slippers and socks, which means tons of cosiness

"I am absolutely obsessed with my Moccis. I had been considering buying a pair of those fancy Instagram slippers (Navabis?) but they were so expensive, and I like to have my feet up on the sofa when I'm relaxing – so the hard sole element turned me off.

"To be honest, I thought I might have to go back to the '90s and re-introduce a pair of slipper socks to my rotation. Then I got sent a press sample of a handmade moccassin brand (beloved by celebs apparently!) called Moccis. They're not especially cheap – prices start at £35, but they're handmade with a leather sole – so the quality is great. They are honestly the cosiest, most comfortable things I have ever worn. I love them so much that I even wore them on the morning of my wedding while I got ready!"

Ailbhe Malone
