Sarah Koenig Wants Your Ideas For "Serial" Season 2

The Serial host revealed during a Q&A that she’s still looking for a crime to investigate in the podcast’s second season. UPDATE: BuzzFeed News has learned that the Season 2 plot may not be crime-based.

Serial production manager Emily Condon elaborated on Sarah Koenig's comments in an email to BuzzFeed News, saying they don’t have a hard and fast timeline on Season 2, although they hope to premiere this fall, depending on the logistics of reporting out the chosen subject matter. Intriguingly, Koenig and Co. are not limiting themselves to telling legal cases. “It could be any kind of story,” Condon wrote. And you really can email your Season 2 ideas to Serial here.

Serial obsessives may be waiting a good, long while for the next installment of This American Life's addictive podcast, as host Sarah Koenig revealed on Jan. 27 that she does not have a crime to investigate in Season 2.

"Like, if any of you has a story, there's an email," she said during a Q&A at Penn State University. "No, I mean ... we do not have a story."

The first season of Serial — which chronicled the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee and the conviction of her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed — became a full-blown cultural obsession following its debut in October 2014.

Thinkpieces were penned, podcasts about the podcast were recorded, parodies were filmed, Reddit became a bottomless rabbithole of conspiracy theories, and everywhere you went people were debating Adnan's guilt.

Luckily for Koenig, #SerialSeason2 has been an incredibly popular hashtag for months — although some of these suggestions seem a little suspect:
