These Scottish Nationalists Travelled From All Over Scotland To Thank Alex Salmond

Hundreds of people turned up to sing at Alex Salmond on the streets of Perth.

A 'Thank You Alex' rally gathered outside of the SNP party conference, where Alex Salmond officially stepped down as first minister.

We went to speak to the Salmond fans. This is Richard Prowse, who wears Highland dress whenever he leaves the house.

This was his simple but powerful message to Alex Salmond.

Some of the crowd made signs, like this one.

And this one of Jim Murphy MP, who was hit by an egg while campaigning for a 'No' vote in the referendum.

This is Ayner Smith and Mark McNeil. Mark had wanted to go to the conference, but he said tickets sold out in seven minutes and he was busy "having a dump".

This group came from all over central Scotland to thank Alex Salmond. They agreed to speak to BuzzFeed News eventually, after initially mistaking us for the "biased BBC".

Robert McCormack, James Lennox, and Raymond Lennox, travelled from Dundee to say thank you to Alex Salmond.

There was some entertainment. This man sang a song called "We Love You Alex, We Do."

This man spent "about half an hour" making this sign.

This one probably didn't take as long.

After a long wait, the crowd finally got to meet their man, and it was all a bit bizarre.

At one point, hundreds of people were screaming "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" at Alex Salmond on the streets of Perth.

But the crowd was happy and, by the looks of it, Alex Salmond was happy too.

Here he is. I think he's enjoying himself.
