The archive footage, unearthed and shown on the Sunday Politics on Sunday morning, shows Corbyn, who was then an obscure backbench Labour MP, dressed up as Santa Claus while the guests try to guess who he is.

The guests, including former Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik, are told the "Secret Santa" has been a Labour MP since 1983 for the smallest constituency in the UK, but they didn't guess it was Corbyn until they were told he chairs the parliamentary wing of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

When Corbyn unveiled himself, one of the guests joked: "He didn't need the beard."

Then Santa Corbyn handed everyone a delicious mince pie. "Ooh, yes please, Jeremy," said presenter Andrew Neil.

This is just the latest bit of evidence that Corbyn loves dressing up as Santa.
