Need A Little Inspiration? Here's 5 Not-So-Well-Known Instagram Accounts Worth Following!

When you’re starting a new business, it’s important to surround yourself with inspiration that will motivate you to curate the best brand, product and customer relationships. If you’re not careful, social media and inspirational outlets like pinterest can really suck the life out of your work. The feeling that your work isn’t as good as the next guy can be overwhelming. That’s why it’s important to reframe your outlook on media like instagram before you tap on the app. Take a moment (just a tiny little second) to re-frame your mind and dive into the app with an objective frame of mind and continue to think positive thoughts instead of allowing the minutia of a killer feed to get you down. At Timber & Ingots, I like to follow some very specific accounts to allow myself the opportunity to grow as a designer, business owner and creator each day. Here’s to the 5 accounts that keep us coming back each week…

Grey and Scout

Liz Bachman is the creator and stylist behind greyandscout. She began staging homes for sale in the Denver area in 2009, and started blogging soon after to file all of her projects and inspiration. By 2011, staging became a full-time job, and although Liz loved it, she wanted more creative freedom.

In her words…

“That led me to take the leap and start my own styling business. Over the last five years I’ve been so fortunate to connect with wonderful clients and collaborate with amazingly talented people. And in March of 2015 I became a mom, so I added that to my resumé! The next venture is renovating our 1950’s midcentury modern home in the city. I cannot lie, I’m out of my mind excited to finally be designing and styling a project from the ground up that’s my project. Work, life, bein’ a mama, it’s all documented on the blog, join me why don’t ya – cheers! xo Liz”

Birch House Lettering

Monica Chamberlin – the Canadian wizard of hand-lettering has a feed of work that constantly reminds me to “Keep It Simple.” It’s a journey to scroll through her white wonderland of beautifully crafted lettering products.

If you need a reminder to keep it clean and focus on the details – check her feed out now! You might even see our Coffee sign while scrolling through…

holly b

Holly B has some seriously cool wooden signs. We would love to carry her products in our shop some day. In an online world of medium quality home decor – her products really take design and concept to a new level. You won’t find any low grade nonsense on her site!

On her website she describes the journey to begin and grow her business…

“what started by what I can only describe as divine intervention is now an actual “thing”. I quit a career to follow a crazy idea that I couldn’t shake, having no idea where it would lead. The realist inside of me was constantly calculating the months before financial ruin. But God provided. Each and every time, God pushed me through to the next step. The control freak part of my personality was forced to jump into the backseat of my own life and throw the keys to the best driver I know.”

Small Oak Studios

Instagram: smalloakstudios

Based out of Woodstock, GA; Small Oak Studios is an incredible little company that hand-crafts journals and other stationary products. We’re in love with the gorgeous leather binding.

“The artisans of Small Oak Studios have been crafting hand made goods and clothing for more than 25 years. Perfecting our craft in wood, leather, paper and fabric to offer usable keepsakes and treasured favorites, designed and made in limited quantities in our studio in Woodstock, Georgia.”

My personal favorite product is the Leather Carpenter Notebook with Built-In Carpenter’s Pencil. It’s a seriously wicked notebook that I hope to own one day.

Made In Minny

Naomi is the owner and creator of Made in Minny; an awesome shop that designs and hand-makes each of their incredible crocheted products. Creating her own brand was always a dream Naomi and on her website she states….

“All of our gear is made by me. I stand behind our high quality, handmade products and truly care about each piece I make. Everything is designed with function in mind first. I want to make sure our beanies & headbands keep you warm during your daily life & greatest adventures. I also keep fashion in mind, because I like being able to pair our gear with any casual outfit. I’ll be honest – you can find me wearing Made in Minny gear most days of the week.

You should take a second to check out their website too. It’s an awesome display of how a small business can take it’s offerings to the next level.
