    Romance in a workplace is always an issue with companies and organizations!

    How to reduce it

    I personally believe that all types of office romances should not be permitted. Given the number of hours we spend at our jobs, it really isn’t surprising that many people start to fall for each other and start to build attraction. Policies must be established in order to keep people on task and doing their job rather than sidetracking to the point where it could affect the people around them or even hurting their own careers. There are several more disadvantages to romance in the workplace than there are advantages. Perceived favoritism by other employees is a huge issue regarding how a couple would put their significant other before anyone else by default. Some couples may have an issue with it while other couples want to play it fair, however, it all depends on the office policy. Lower employee morale, potential conflicts of interest, and sexual harassment all pose a threat to the productivity of the staff and cooperation. Even at smaller companies where working with your significant other wouldn’t matter as much as it would in an office building or a higher paying job, employers always keep the “conflict of interest” issue in mind. Supervisors that continue to keep taking action will help to maintain a professional work environment for all of their employees to go forward.
