New York is the melting pot of the world fit with genuine people. However, New Yorkers are much more straight-forward, and they aren't afraid to be honest. They're generally kind, just don't stand in their way when they need to get somewhere.

Taxis do not stop, and New Yorkers are known for running across the road when they're definitely not supposed to. Be aware of your surroundings and always be prepared to walk in order to save time.

It definitely depends! There are some areas of the city that smell perfectly fine. Some smell like food carts and freshly baked bread, but there are a lot of places that smell like hot garbage. The stinkiest places are the subway stations and the stinkiest time is at night.

This is insanely false! Almost nothing is open 24 hours in NYC! Unless you're going bar hopping and then spending the rest of your night at a McDonald's, you're probably going to bed at night with the rest of New York City. The lights will stay on, but the streets eventually become silent and empty.
