Troye Sivan Is Releasing New Music So He Can Work With Freelance Artists And Give Back To The Community

"This is a tough and scary time and I feel so lucky to have music and art to get me through emotionally and financially — and I want to share that so bad."

With the coronavirus outbreak leading to more and more shutdowns and closures of events, it's no wonder that many people have found themselves out of a job or in need of work.

To help give back to the creative industry, Troye Sivan — who is an all-round gorgeous human being — announced that he was "going rogue" and would be releasing his own music.

And instead of spending money on music videos, like he normally would, Troye put a callout to freelance artists — including graphic designers, animators and the like — to submit work that he would be able to commission and use.

As Troye explained on his Instagram post, "This is a tough and scary time and I feel so lucky to have music and art to get me through emotionally and financially — and I want to share that so bad."

Since his callout, Troye said he had been "getting lots of messages with amazing creative work" and to "keep DMing" because he wants to work with as many freelance artists possible.

He also sneakily dropped a teaser of the new song, which sounded like ABSOLUTE FIRE.

There's no word yet on an ~official~ release date, but according to Troye's latest tweet, it could be as soon as today!!!

I think i can actually say tomorrow. Idk waiting for one more thing to be confirmed https://t.co/deqRTsRzRJ

Shout out to Troye for not only giving back to the creative industry, but doing it in such a fulfilling and rewarding way. 👏💖

And here's the thread where Troye asked for commissions — even if you're not able to pay for a piece, I'm sure these artists would appreciate a friendly message of support during these difficult times.

Update — March 23 12:02 p.m. AEDT: Troye has announced that the single called "Take Yourself Home" will be out on April 1.
