Turns Out The Veronicas Haven't Called It Quits And My Mental Health Is Feeling Very Fragile ATM

The pop duo are releasing solo tracks, but it’s for a completely different reason than a breakup.

Yesterday, it looked like Australian music legends The Veronicas — made up of twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso — had made the decision to call it quits and instead pursue solo careers.

On Lisa's Instagram page, she teased a preview of a music video for her song "Cruising' On My Own" with the caption "I'm going solo".

Meanwhile, on Jess' profile, she uploaded a sneak peek for "Seeing Stars", which looked set to be released on the exact same date that Lisa's song is.

Jess captioned the post "Are you on my team?", most likely in reference to both songs being released on Wednesday, September 7.

While there hadn't been any official announcement as to why The Veronicas had supposedly parted ways, it didn't seem like there was bad blood between Lisa and Jess — at least, judging by their comments on each other's Instagram posts.

Lisa Origliasso saying "Jessie333 my arch nemesis...yet my greatest inspiration. This is the ultimate showdown"

Meanwhile, fans of the duo were left shocked and confused at the sudden news — especially since the band's Instagram had been scrubbed of photos.

An Instagram comment saying "That's so cool you guys are going solo but is it permanent?"
An Instagram comment saying "What are you two up to???"

This morning though, it was revealed that The Veronicas are indeed releasing brand new music for the first-time as solo artists — but it's for a completely different reason than we all thought.

The pop duo have partnered with Vodka Cruiser to launch "The Solo Project", with their individual tracks aimed at breaking down social stigma associated with female and femme masturbation.

And like, I'm all for empowering us to pleasure ourselves, but did this project have to come at the cost of my mental health and shocking the entire nation into thinking our faves had broken up?!

Anyway, it's a good day because The Veronicas haven't called it quits and they can keep on releasing bangers.

Even still...Alexa, play "Untouched" for the millionth time.
