Most discarded clothes end up in a landfill -- including clothes that you donate! So here's three easy ways to reuse your old t-shirts. BuzzFeed Video Reusable Grocery Bag BuzzFeed Video MATERIALS* Old t-shirt * Scissors* Ruler* Fabric markerINSTRUCTIONS# Cut the sleeves off of the shirt, make sure to cut along the outside of the seams. Also, make a deep scoop cut around the neckline of the shirt. # Next, draw 1 inch vertical lines along the bottom of the shirt, they should be approximately ¼ inch apart. Cut along the lines, and ensure that you are cutting both the front and the back of the shirt. This should create little strips of fabric on the bottom of both sides of the shirt. # Next, flip the shirt inside out and take one strip from the back of the shirt, and one strip from the front of the shirt, and tie them together. Double knot this. Do this until all strips are tied together. # To secure the bottom of the bag further, take a strip and tie it with the strip next to it, double knot it. Do this until all strips are tied together. # Flip the bag back around to hide the strips of fabric, and it’s ready to use! Flannel Apron BuzzFeed Video MATERIALS* Old flannel shirt* Rotary cutter* Scissors* Fabric glue* RulerINSTRUCTIONS# Using the rotary cutter, cut off the sleeves of the shirt, make sure to cut along the outside of the seams. # Take your scissors and cut along the seams of the sides of the shirt in order to separate the front and back of the shirt. Cut around the collar along the backside of the shirt to ensure that the collar remains intact and attached to the front of the shirt. Set the backside of the shirt aside. # With the front of the flannel facing forward, fold the sides of the apron (where the sleeves used to be) back to form your desired apron shape. Glue this back using fabric glue along the inside of the fold. # Take a rotary cutter and cut two 1 inch lines perpendicular to one another on each side of the apron where the apron would hit your waist. Put the front of the flannel aside. # Take the backside of the flannel and cut two 2 inch strips of fabric along the vertical axis of the shirt. # Next, take one of the strips of fabric and fold it in along the vertical axis from both sides, use glue to hold down the folds. Repeat this with the second strip. These will serve as your apron strings. # Run one of the apron strings through the 1 inch line that was cut in Step 4. Repeat on the other side. Secure the apron string with a safety pin. # Now your apron is ready to use! Pillow Case BuzzFeed Video MATERIALS* Pillow* T-shirt* Scissors or rotary cutter* Fabric marker* Measuring tape* RulerINSTRUCTIONS# Using the measuring tape, measure the length and width of your pillow. # Using a t shirt that is larger that the pillow, mark the measurements of the pillow onto the body of the shirt. Add two inches to all sides of the measurements and cut through both the front and back of the t shirt. # If your pillow is a square or rectangle, cut a 1 inch square off of each corner of the shirt. # Draw a dotted line one inch from each side of the shirt. You should have four lines in total, and they should meet on the inside corner of each square that was cut. # Cut straight ¼ inch thick strips along each side of the shirt, do not cut the strips past the dotted line. # Take your pillow and place it on top of the back of the shirt, and place the front of the shirt on top of the pillow. Align the strips from the front of the t shirt and the back of the t shirt. # Tie a strip of fabric from the front of the t shirt to its aligned strip of fabric from the back t shirt. Double knot. Do this until all sides are tied together. View this post on Facebook Facebook: video.php Follow BuzzFeed’s Nifty on Facebook for more mind-blowing hacks and DIYs.
