Reason Why "The Incredibles" Is The Best Superhero Movie Of All Time

1. It gives us a glimpse into what "normal" life is like for superheroes.

I know what you're thinking -- "Batman and Superman have normal lives too!" -- but honestly, that's only their day-job. The Incredibles shows movie-goers something that we can relate to -- that heroes hate being in their cubicle and having "leftover night" just as much as the rest of us.

2. Elastigirl

Helen Parr is certainly the most dynamic character in the entire movie -- and not only because she can stretch to fantastic lengths! Unlike in most superhero movies, Helen is not the damsel in distress and is ultimately the one who has to save the male protagonist, Mr. Incredible. From the opening interviews she is wildly hilarious, but also shows that she's flexible enough to both save the day and pick her family up from school.

3. The children have cooler powers than the adults.

We have plenty of superhero movies with super men and women, but often the kids get left out. The incredibles, however, highlights Dash, Violet, and Jack-Jack as some of the most talented and powerful superheroes. And tbh, having a baby that can burst into flames or float through walls is pretty awesome!

4. A movie line that is so ingenious it'll make you laugh every time you hear it.

5. The family's superhero pose looks pretty badass.

Without even having to practice they effortlessly strike a pose that says both "you don't want to f*#&" with our family" and "we look great in matching uniforms." You also probably practiced your pose ~just in case~ The Incredibles ever needed your help.

6. The main villain is highly self-aware.

The Incredibles pokes fun at a variety of classic superhero tropes, but none more so than with its villains. Bomb Voyage reminds us of the odd-ball super villains we have come to expect from Spiderman and Guardians of the Galaxy and gets arrested in the first few minutes of the film. Syndrome, however, is unlike any other super villain in that he understands the tactics and mentality of heroes due to his years of observation. And yet, even the best supers can be taken down by a poor fashion-sense.

7. It provides a fresh take on traditional super powers.

The Incredibles, in a variety of ways reinvents the powers of traditional supers. Dash's super speed also allows for him to run on water and Elastigirl's elasticity allows her to also turn into a boat and a parachute. I'd like to see the Flash or Mr. Fantastic do that!

8. It provides multiple perspectives into what a superhero romance can look like.

Unlike the typical trope of the superhero saving their romantic interest and subsequently falling in love, The Incredibles shows everything from crushing to dealing with martial issues. (Luckily everyone ends up happy in the end)!

9. Two words: Edna Mode.

Edna is BY FAR the breakout star of the Incredibles, with so many memorable lines that the movie should have just been about her! Her bold, innovative, and, sometimes, crazy personality has not only inspired countless heroes to save the world, but has helped them to look fabulous while doing so.
