The slots are wide enough for bagels. It's nice looking, and the cool walls actually stay cool during use of the toaster. There's a decent assortment of small, almost cube-types of wood, and quite a few longer, rectangular ones. So far, I've successfully carved a small ornament for my partner's grandfather, as well as a business card stand/holder for my buddy's birthday. The wood is also very malleable, and easy to carve.
