Congratulations! You got my favorite book of all time! It's long. It's deep. It's saturated with life. It's got family drama, romance, a murder mystery, and crises of belief. It will make you laugh and cry and it will send you into a massive existential crisis which you're not gonna be ready for with almost zero warning. You're gonna have to tell me when you finish – I'll need to geek out about it and so will you. P.S. Make sure to get the Richard Pevear / Larissa Volokhonsky translation as its generally thought to be the most accurate.

The Brothers Karamazov

Ooooh, nice one! This is probably the greatest summer read I could ever find for you, and probably one of the best reads I could find for you at ANY time of the year. It's short, but you will want to take it slow, because every single line is magical and deserves to be absorbed fully. And those elaborate lines are appropriate, because this 1920's drama will put a serious spell on you.

The Great Gatsby

You've got dark taste, but you've also secretly got a sweet heart. I have the perfect post-apocalyptic novel for you! Be prepared for no-sleep-because-you-have-to-keep-reading levels of suspense, but also be prepared for some serious amounts of feelings and crying. Because this book is comprised of two things: absolute evil and unadulterated love. And there is ZERO in-between and it's wonderful.

The Road

Yes! I'm excited for you because this book is fantastic on every level. The writing is delightfully witty, the characters feel 1000% real, the story will make you laugh hysterically in the first half and then in the second half you'll be sobbing so hard you'll hurt your voice. Oh, there's so, so much to learn about life from this story, especially lessons about equality and being there for other people. Here's to Harper Lee for being ahead of her time!

To Kill A Mockingbird

Ah, a kindred spirit! Hello, my fellow fantasy fan! This is the cornerstone of the fantasy genre as we know it, and with good reason. The world of The Lord of the Rings is so elaborate and detailed that it is *this* close to actually leaping off the page and being real. The story itself is charming, gripping, heartwarming, mysterious, and just plain breathtaking through and through. This one is a must-read for everyone. And I guarantee it, you will bawl your eyes out at some point in "The Return of the King." And there will be no one with any right to make you feel ashamed of that.
