Lynn Lynn The City Of ...Mural Art?

Lynn Mass is no longer the city of sin? Its now the city of mural art.

I'm just a regular girl living in a totally not regular city.

My family moved to the states from Bosnia in 1997 and in about 1999 we moved a little city called Lynn which is also known as "Lynn, Lynn the city of sin." I remember being so happy my mom and dad bought their first house here and we were finally starting to have a normal life. I loved my community, my home, my family and my friends. All of these things made such an impact on me, but as I got older I started hearing things that I didn't understand. Things like, "oh you're from Lynn, let me check my pockets for my wallet" or other things like, " oh you're from Lynn, aren't you afraid to live there?" I didn't get it. Yes I was from Lynn, Lynn was my first home and my home currently, I love it here and the people in my city are so amazing. I didn't understand why people where so afraid of a place that is so normal to me. However this city had this bad reputation and it seemed like people whom didn't live here had nothing but bad things to say. I remember thinking to myself, I wish things were different, I wish that something special happened here so people would come here some day and take pictures and enjoy their time in a city that has so much potential. I didn't see what everyone else saw. I saw something better, I saw a community of family and friends who looked out for one another. One day I even sat with my dad saying to him, that if I had my own business I would open it in Lynn and do something different, bring something new for people to see I told him would paint the walls of my business to different things so people who visited my business would have a photo backdrop where that can have some fun with it. As silly as that sounded I was so excited about that, and wished so badly that my city had something similar to it. At some point in 2015 my sister in law and I went to Montreal, and I was introduced to mural art. I was blown away- I think I took photos of every one I saw because it was so magical and I hoped deep down that Boston and Lynn would bring something like that to us. Never the less on Saturday July 15th I had driven outside of my condo and as I stopped at a set of lights as looked up I saw this amazingly colorful mural. At first I didn't know what to think or what was going on so of course first thing I did was go to Instagram and there I discovered that BeyondTheWallsLynn decided take this city from Lynn, Lynn the city of sin to Lynn, Lynn the city of murals. It was probably my favorite moment of many wonderful moments in my city. I gathered a group of people and we walked through down town to see these amazing artists just doing their thing, it was so cool and such an experience that I just want to share it with the entire world. I was blown away and you will be also. So if you are ever in Massachusetts and are a lover of the beach and love great food and wonderful coffee and amazing art which you could see for free, come visit me in Lynn, you will not regret it. I hope that this inspires you as much as it did me and if it does let me hear about it! Peace Love & Art, Diyana
