5 Swoon-Worthy Thanksgiving Table Settings

This year, you're going to have a festive Thanksgiving the gorgeous and gilded way.

Emily and Erick from Hello Home Shoppe are here to share some simple tabletop styling ideas that you can replicate at home, with some fun DIYs thrown in the mix. Enjoy!

1. Midas Touch

The simplest way to make a table look sophisticated in no time is to opt for a unifying color scheme—and what’s classier than gold for such a special occasion? We choose to pair our gilded dinnerware with DIY touches such as the place card pumpkin (we took a mini pumpkin and painted it an antique gold) and the DIY gold rim bowl (an old ceramic bowl got a once-over with gold paint). Accent your table with branches painted gold or with berries in a similar color to keep with the color scheme.

2. White Out

Following the same principles of keeping a uniform color scheme, for this table we opted for white tableware in traditional shapes and wove in some lush greenery for some contrast to the stark white scheme. Hand-tied mini herb “bouquets” add a playful touch to place settings and can be personalized with a small nametag to help each guest find his or her seat. Eucalyptus is a cost-effective and beautiful way to add greens to a table and its silvery leaves blend naturally with the white dinnerware. For a finishing touch, create mini arrangements of another white flower of your choice and scatter a few mercury glass votives along the table to tie everything together.

3. Rustic Retreat

Make guests feel at home with this rustic-inspired tabletop that’s every bit as cozy as it is laid back. Enamelware lets guests know they can relax without fear of retribution should they chip the family china and whimsical tree-branch flatware makes for a fun affair. Instead of formal place settings (which spoon goes on the outside again??) take a cue from Bavarian restaurants and allow guests to take their own flatware out of community style mugs. Slate placemats allow you to nix fancy tablecloths and save you from dry cleaning antique linens—just wipe down and go. Bring the outdoors in with overflowing bowls of acorns, chestnuts, and pinecones—all of which can be fashioned into placecards for guests with a little bit of string and paper.

4. Autumn Blues

The amber colors of fall harvest have never looked as good as when paired with their moody blue counterparts and we wanted to play up this dazzling combination in our table. To bring blue into our table, we paired a royal blue table runner with neutral gray dinnerware and accents. To weave in the amber element, we looked to seasonal produce (think persimmons, heirloom pumpkins, and carnival squash) to give us this pop of color. A single persimmon at each place setting serves as a little welcome treat and does double duty as a place card, should you be inclined!

5. Organic Minimalism

For this place setting, we were inspired to create a minimalist table setting while incorporating organic shapes and pops of color. To recreate the look, set your table with dinnerware in organic shapes that mimic nature (hint: they’re not always perfectly round!) and carry this theme through the rest of your table with pared down styling. For example, instead of creating a showy bouquet, snip a few berry branches from your back yard and put a in a clear vase. Focus on objects with utilitarian functionality and steer away from excessive styling. To add contrast, accent with pops of crimson in the form of cranberries, red Bartlett pears, and pomegranates—both the pears and pomegranates look beautiful when served as place cards.
