What is your favourite colour of jelly bean?

Alex is a 3rd year business student and wants to be a chartered accountant when he graduates.   
He is on the autism spectrum and prefers to work independently rather than in a group. He can have difficulty understanding someone if they don’t say exactly what they mean. Alex struggles with overstimulation; for example he doesn’t work well under fluorescent lighting and is hypersensitive to smells or background noise.   
Alex is 20 years old and watches wrestling with his friends every Monday night.

Your persona is Alex, a student living on the autism spectrum

Khaleed is a 2nd year arts student studying political science.   
Khaleed lives with depression. His depression is recurrent and can vary in its severity. He was hospitalized 4 years ago. Sometimes it comes in the form of feeling like a failure, or worrying that he’s let everyone down. It can be difficult for him to stay motivated to even attend class, particularly when experiencing an episode of depression.   
Khaleed is 20 years old and hopes to follow in his mother footsteps and become a crown prosecutor.

Maridee is a 3rd year business student.   
Marilee is the mother of a rambunctious 4 year old. As a mom, it can be hard to find child care and transportation for her daughter that fits with her class schedule. When Maridee can’t find those services she usually has to skip class. Another problem can be managing expenses.   
As a mature student it’s easy for Maridee to feel like an outsider in her classes and group work can be difficulty to fit into her schedule with her other responsibilities.   
Maridee is 34 years old and her daughter, Celeste, is 4. Right now Celeste wants to be a firefighter when she grows up.

Your persona is Maridee, a student who is a single mother.

Natalie is a 2nd year science student doing a major in biology and a minor environmental studies.   
Natalie lives with anxiety and she can find it difficult to even figure out where to start with her assignments and projects. When she does start, she can obsess, worrying that her assignment or test has to be perfect and takes more time to complete them. She often feels like the stakes may be significantly higher than they really are.   
Natalie is 19 years old and lives with her older sister.

Jacob is a fourth year business student who is blind and a confident technology user.   
Jacob uses a screen-reading program (JAQS) to access electronic text materials, as well as an audio recorder to “take notes” in class. He’s 28 years old and can’t wait to get his last few classes out of the way so he can start his career.   
Jacob shares an apartment with his girlfriend.

Your persona is Jacob, a student who is blind

Kelly is a 1st year horticulture student. She sustained a brain injury than affects her vision. Her vision changes from hour to hour and minute to minute based on exposure to fluorescent lights, computer screens, movement (e.g. traffic on a road), fatigue.   
When Kelly is exposed to these triggers she experiences blurred and double vision.   
She’s 25 years old and is looking forward to a career in landscaping.

Your persona is Kelly, a student who lives with vision difficulties.

Miriam is an international student who has come to Canada to complete a college program in hospitality management and improve her English language skills (in both spoken and written form).   
Miriam met the English-language requirement for her program but becomes stressed when in-class discussion moves too quickly or includes a lot of new terminology. She appreciates captions and transcripts when video and audio materials are presented in class, as well as electronic copies of lecture notes in advance of a class.   
Miriam is living with a Canadian host-family.

Your persona is Miriam, a student who is an English language learner.

Trish is a college student taking university transfer courses. She has a physical disability resulting from a car accident that left her with partial paralysis and motor issues requiring a motorized wheelchair. 
Trish is physically dependent on her family, so she especially enjoys reading and studying independently. Trish prefers e-book formats and PDFs that can be easily loaded onto her iPad. 
Trish is 18 years old and she lives with her family.

Your persona is Trish, a student who lives with a partial paralysis.

Steven is a English major who is deaf. He is 23 years old and likes the flexibility of taking online classes. He doesn’t have a preference for text-material formats but videos without captions are meaningless for him. When he does take on-campus classes, he uses real-time transcription services to access his lectures. 
Steven lives on his own.

Your persona is Steven, a student who is deaf.

Ann is a chemistry major with ADHD, a learning disability that makes it difficulty for her to concentrate. She uses learning software (Kurzweil) on her laptop and finds that reading and listening to text at the same time helps her learning. 
Ann is 20 years old and hopes to become a pharmacists. She shares an apartment with two other female students.
