10 Times The Walking Dead Crushed Our Hearts

It's no secret that Walking Dead isn't just an action show but is about whether people lose or keep their humanity when the world falls apart. In this apocolyptic world, there are all kinds of losses and tragedies. Season 8 is approaching and there's bound to be heartache like there is in every season. Here are 10 times where the Walking Dead left us heartbroken.

    1. The whole Beth and Daryl storyline. We got to see in full throttle how much of a strong and hopeful character Beth was. We got to see how her faith affected Daryl and how he brought out her inner strength. She brought out hope in him to still believe there was good in the apocalyptic world. The time they spend together was sweet. They share a heart felt moment in the funeral home and then for her to just be ripped away is one of the most heart breaking plot lines in the series.

    2. When Herschel dies. He was a loving father to Maggie and Beth and acted like a wise father figure to the other characters like Rick. He was often the voice of reason and he helped steer Rick from losing his sanity. He believed in hope for the future. Watching Herschel die was one of the most tragic deaths in Walking Dead history.

    3. When Abraham says goodbye to Sasha with the peace sign. This small but significant moment references all the moments Abraham and Sasha used the peace sign. The peace sign was their adorable little thing. It was such a heartbreaking detail.

    4. When Abraham and Glenn are killed by Negan. One of the most horrible moments ever.

    5. When Glenn tells Maggie he'll find her. This was a soul crushing callback to all the times they were separated. This is also a sad double meaning of Glenn saying he'd find her in another life.

    6. Rick's dream. If not having to witness two lovable characters brutally murdered wasn't enough emotional torture, throw in a dream sequence of imagining our heroes sitting down together for a family dinner.

    7. When Merle dies and Daryl finds him as a walker. Merle's sacrifice for Daryl and the group was one of the most heart wrenching moments.

    8. Sasha's flashback/dream of Abraham. Sigh.

    9. When they found Sophia in the barn. This was when you knew that anyone could die in this world, even kids and no character got a free pass of heartbreak. This tragic moment when they realize Sophia had been dead the whole time and was a walker was the beginning of Carol's transformation.

    10. The whole Mika and Lizzie storyline. It was so awful that Mika, a sweet innocent little girl was killed by her psycho sister Lizzie. Although Lizzie was psychotic, it was so tragic that Carol had to shoot a child.
