Real talk: Season 3 of Real Housewives of New York City is the best season of ANY of the Real Housewives franchise.
First, let's become re-acquainted with the ladies of NYC with this intro:
From divorces to vow renewals, vacations to pregnancies, meltdowns to breakups, there was a lot that happened. Let's now reflect back on what made this season so special.
Countess LuAnn began her music "career".
Here's her "live" performance.
LuAnn also tried dating after her divorce from The Count.
Coerte V. W. Felske is a published author, and seemed.....interesting.
Jill tried ice skating for the first time since she was young.
She also experimented new personal hygeine techniques with her precious dog Ginger.
Kelly posed for Playboy.
"You're posing nude for the most infamous book in the world." -Kelly
And who could ever forget Ramona's epic walk down the runway during Brooklyn's Fashion Week?
Speaking of Ramona, this was the season we all took a crazy ride.
In the first episode, she shows how she cut her hair short to signify that she was "renewing" herself.
Things got off to a rocky start right off the bat.
At Jill's event at Saks Fifth Avenue, Ramona called Kelly out on her supposed boob job
She said some nasty things to Bethenny regarding her fight with Jill during their walk along Brooklyn Bridge.
Next thing we knew, she was trying to help Bethenny reconcile her fight with Jill.
And we all know how she get's when she has her Pinot Grigio.
It was also during this season that Bethenny found out she was pregnant!
Bethenny vs. Jill
Bethenny vs. LuAnn
The biggest fight by far was between Bethenny and Jill.
Witness the phone call that ended their friendship.
When Bethenny told Alex to give Jill a message, it didn't turn out so well for anyone.
Yikes.
This just fueled the anger which already existed between Jill and Alex.
It's basically Mean Girls 30 years later.
All of these events led up to one solitary momentous event known as: Scary Island.
It was a whirlwind of emotions and psychological issues and it was beautiful to watch unfold. Let's break it down.
It began with some bickering at lunch on the yacht.
"You're making lemons into lemonade." - Kelly
Occupational titles were questioned.
Personal activities were judged.
Mature opinions were shared.
Kelly kept pushing the cook vs. chef argument at breakfast the next day.
"Just because you're catering peoples' parties does not a chef make." - Kelly
Then, photo shoots were taken.
Bethenny even extended an olive branch to Kelly with a gift bag.
Of course, Kelly took it the COMPLETE wrong way.
This gift was the introduction to Kelly's fear of Bethenny killing her in her sleep.
At this point, no one knew what was going on.
Even when the situation was (somewhat) under control, it was still pretty tense.
We were all at the edge of our seats.
To summarize, we learned about Kelly's diet and how she doesn't eat processed foods.
Ramona was having none of this cray cray.
Kelly had a problem with dominating the conversation
Would Bethenny tolerate this? No way.
The other ladies in the room debated her condition.
We learned Sonja's true feelings on the matter at hand.
When we thought the drama had ended, we were so wrong.
Jill surprised everyone by showing up on Scary Island. Awkward.
After the trip, Ramona and her (then) husband Mario renewed their vows.
After being married for 17 years. Random? We thought so too.
Then came the reunion.
The ladies debated on what exactly went down when Jill arrived on Scary Island.
Bethenny made it clear she did not want to be friends with Jill anymore.
Insults were thrown around the room like dodgeballs in a middle school gym.
Like clockwork, Kelly had a bit of a meltdown...again.
Thus ended the most epic meltdown in Real Housewives history.
The ladies, and Andy, were concerned and a little confused about the whole situation.
To Conclude:
Every woman on this show contributed to its success:
Bethenny provided us with golden one-liners and quotes to use on the daily.
Kelly gave us a performance we will not soon forget.
We rode the Ramona coaster, which was fun and a bit scary at times.
Sonja was the tipsy comic relief we all needed.
Alex found her voice and gave us non-stop entertainment.
LuAnn got feisty, and we reveled in it.
And Jill ended a friendship and won in the drama department.
All of these ladies provided us with exceptional reality TV viewing, and I think I speak for all Real Housewives fans when I say that we will be forever grateful and privileged to have been able to witness this gem of a season.
