Just 36 Practical Things To Buy Yourself Because You Deserve It, Damnit

It's time to stop arguing with yourself and just buy the happy lil' Scrub Daddy sponge.

    1. Tozo earbuds many swear are *just* like AirPods but for waaaaaay cheaper — you'll finally be able to listen to your favorite podcast in peace.

Check out a TikTok of them if you're not yet convinced!

Promising review: "Okay these are by far the best earbuds I’ve ever used. No exaggeration. My husband had these in his Amazon cart a couple of months ago but never checked out. Well it’s about to be Christmas soon, so I chose to get these on the sly for him. When they came in I wanted to make sure everything was working correctly before wrapping them up for Christmas. The sound quality is absolutely perfect, the noice cancellation is AMAZING! They were on low and the sound was crystal clear. I asked my 6-year-old son to talk so I could see how well they canceled out noise and I couldn’t hear him, so I told him to shout and I still couldn’t hear him at all. My husband will absolutely love these!! Also, now I need to get myself a pair as well! Definitely happy with my purchase!" —Ashley Haley

Get them from Amazon for $22.99+ (available in five styles).

Promising review: "Found this product on TikTok. I don’t think I’ve ever seen value like I do with this product! Literally use it on EVERYTHING!! Kids and teens have dirt, grime, and grease on their walls? This will make it look like a new paint job. Baseboards need some love? A pea-size amount of this makes them look brand new. Need a shoe cleaner? PERFECT for sneakers. I could name a million more uses, but I can ASSURE you this is worth every penny. What’s more? You need such LITTLE of this product; it will last a VERY long time. Thank you, TikTok!!!" —Rachel in CLT

    3. A SwitchBot Smart Switch Button Pusher you'll likely want to buy for every single switch in your home (apologies) as you'll be able to use it to transform *any* device into a smart one! Reviewers love this because it doesn't require you to "smart enable" other parts of your home. I need to get one of these for my husband who drags himself out of bed every morning to turn on his espresso machine.

Promising review: "This is exactly what I was looking for and had no idea it existed until I saw someone mention it on TikTok! Our front walkway gets pretty dark at night, and I was frustrated with trying to remember to turn on the light every evening and off every morning. I looked into those light sensors you can plug in, but our front porch light is under an awning with enough shade that it would have kept the light on 24/7. This little Switchbot solved the problem. I applied it to the indoor light switch and set the time on my phone. It has worked perfectly ever since." —Alecia McLochlin

Get it from Amazon for $29.99 (available in white and black).

    4. A duo of absorptive ball-shaped towels you can use to dry your hands super fast and add a little bit of fun to your bathroom at the same time.

Promising review: "These bowl huggers were larger than expected and do a great job of protecting your hands from the heat so you can place the bowl on the table. Very colorful and a great addition to your kitchen. Plan on getting a set for my daughter and son for Christmas gifts!" —Ljoy20

Promising review: "I cannot speak highly enough of this amazing scrubber! It cleans absolutely everything, doesn't scratch nonstick surfaces, has a fun texture, doesn't smell bad over time, and actually speeds up my dish cleaning time. Seriously, this is the best scrubber I have encountered in years. I bought one for several friends and family members for Christmas after seeing it on Shark Tank, and I've already replaced one for myself. This makes a wonderful and practical gift.

My son liked it so much he just purchased two more packages to clean their new stainless-steel sink. This product is a great value compared to every other scrubber I have tried, and I have A LOT of them. Finally, it looks great sitting on the counter or in the sink with its smiley face and fun colors. Great value: you can't go wrong with this one!" —Carla

    7. mug warmer to keep on your nightstand so you can continue to sip on hot tea even if you completely forgot about it while getting a bit *too* invested in the bread week episode of The Great British Baking Show.

A pink mug warmer on a desk with a mug onf coffee on it
    Amazon

Promising review: "I researched so many coffee warmers and am so glad I decided on this one. It definitely keeps my coffee hot, no matter how long it takes me to drink it. I also like that it has three settings. As you drink down your coffee, you can lower the heat because it keeps the coffee very hot. I like it so much I ordered a second one for another part of the house." —hottytoddy

Get it from Amazon for $22.39 (available in six colors).

    8. A set of nonslip anti-fatigue kitchen mats designed to leave you feeling supported even after you've spent over an hour cooking dinner for the entire family. They'll also help your kitchen decor look nicely coordinated ✨.

two gray kitchen mats with a white design on them
    Amazon

Promising review: "These mats are truly incredible! They help immensely with back and joint pain relief, are durable and spill-proof, and beautiful! I have tried other fluffy or foam mats to ease the burdens of constantly standing on hard floors, but nothing was as functional as these. I love that they are spill-proof and easy to wipe clean (no tossing in the washer!). They are not completely smooth, so they aren’t slippery when wet either. We have three children and three dogs, so durability is a huge requirement, and these mats have held up extremely well in just the month that we have had them." —Sierra H

Get them from Amazon for $23.98+ (available in two sizes and six styles).

    9. Airtight food storage containers that'll quickly become one of your favorite kitchen accessories — they'll keep a variety of items like beans, cookies, candies, and dried pasta fresh and organized.

The set also comes with labels so you can easily see what's inside each container.

Promising review: "I’m not sure how necessary these are…but I LOVE them! I store uncooked noodles, snacks, cereal, uncooked rice, croutons, etc. in these. I feel like my pantry is more aesthetically pleasing and definitely more organized. These stack well with each other and save me space from oddly shaped boxes and bags I would have in my pantry without them. I don’t really know the benefit of having 'airtight containers' but I love the organization it offers and the food I store never tastes stale. For foods that need to be cooked (noodles, rice, etc.), I wrote the basic directions on the black stickers. I also used the stickers for the expiration dates of the food I store. I throw the containers in the dishwasher and clean the lids by hand. I’ll definitely be getting more!" —Jess

Get a set of seven from Amazon for $25.99+ (available in three colors).

    10. And organizer drawers you can use to transform your very own fridge into one that would bring Marie Kondo to tears.

Promising review: "I love these things so much. I just got my first apartment with my boyfriend and it looked so messy in our little fridge and now it looks really appealing and everything is easy to get to. The quality is so good, I’m honestly impressed; they’re very sturdy and the egg holder is so cute and holds 14 eggs!" —Faith Sperry

    11. A waterproof Bluetooth speaker you can clip onto your shower curtain rod and pump in soothing nature sounds to truly give your bathroom a spa-like aesthetic.

Promising review: "Sounds pretty good for a single little speaker. Battery life is great. Unlike every other Bluetooth device in the world, including other JBL portable speakers, this one stays connected, and disconnected, when I want it to. It looks good, I like the clip, and it seems sufficiently waterproof to hang in my shower (albeit in a relatively dry area of the shower). Perfect in the niche role I've selected it for!" —Jeremy Modjeska

Get it from Amazon for $49.95 (available in 12 colors).

    12. Or a waterproof shower phone holder, because why buy an extra music-playing device when you already have your Spotify linked to your phone? Stow your phone away in this for safe keeping, then proceed to sing and dance your heart out to The Best of Taylor Swift while washing your hair.

Promising review: "This waterproof phone case makes listening to music and watching Netflix in the shower so easy!! It’s super easy to put your phone in, fog proof, and easily rotatable. The only thing is sometimes touching the screen through the plastic can be a little difficult, but worked most of the time! It comes with three different backs so you can move it around to many different spots in the house. I got the white so it would match my shower." —Brittney Steele

Get it from Amazon for $13.59+ (available in three colors).

    13. A HyperChiller to cool your favorite drink in less than a minute. A must-have if you're like me and prefer to drink iced coffee all year. Yes, that includes when it's 25 degrees out in the middle of January.

I snagged this for myself last Prime Day and I'm never looking back! I basically only drink iced coffee (yes, even in the winter) and have forever been plagued by how long it typically takes for my coffee to cool to a temperature that won't melt ice (thus watering down my beverage). Luckily for me (and all iced coffee drinkers) the HyperChiller actually gets the job done. It's very simple to use: you fill the two separate chambers inside with water then pop it into the freezer. When you're ready to make your coffee you can either brew it directly into the lid of the HyperChiller or pour it in yourself. Let it sit for a minute or so, then pour it into your glass. No more attempting to chill my too-hot coffee in the fridge! It really cools it super quickly — I can happily add as much ice to my drink as I'd like without ruining the taste!

Promising review: "For those not fully familiar with how it works, what it's accomplishing is trying to surround your liquid with as much ice-behind-metal as possible. So, it has a center chamber of ice behind the metal, then an outer chamber of ice. The inner chamber fits inside the outer with about a cup's worth of space that's between the inner and outer chamber. This exposes your liquid to the greatest surface area of super-cold metal that they can, and since your liquid is only touching metal, and not the ice itself, it doesn't matter the temperature of the liquid poured in. You can pour in boiling water and while it may end up melting a bunch of the ice behind the metal, none of that water will mix with your drink. So, whether you're chilling a wine, dropping hot coffee to cool it off, or just wanting to rapidly drop the temp of that fresh lemonade you made without making it watery, this will get that done." —P. Ericksen

Get it from Amazon for $17.50.

    14. A mini Keurig machine for anyone who has been looking for a fun, but affordable, way to add a delightful pop of color to their kitchen counter.

I have this machine in evergreen, and it flawlessly matches my kitchen — which absolutely sparks joy. I was admittedly a little confused at first on how to use it (surprisingly), but once I figured it out, it was smooth sailing. Since it's a single-serve machine, you'll need to add your pod, close the hatch, pour the exact amount of water you'd like to be dispensed in the top, then click the button once, and wait for the water to heat and pour out. Don't hit the button over and over like I thought I had to...oops. Anyways, it's a fabulous lil' machine and looks super cute on my counter!

Promising review: "I love the convenience of this machine, and the color makes me so happy! Such an attractive design that doesn’t take up too much space on my counter. It even matches my favorite coffee mug!" —Jen F.

Get it from Amazon for $68 (available in nine colors).

    15. An oil mister to help you perfectly coat all of your ingredients without getting your hands covered in grease.

Promising review: "This is a great item for lightly spraying salads, roasting vegetables, or adding some oil to a prepared plate of pasta. Avoids using more oil than necessary so that’s a savings right there. I also use it to put a light coating of oil on all my cast-iron cookware to prevent rust. Best of all, it looks great on the dinner table. Lots of uses which really makes it an asset in the kitchen. It seems that it should last a while so I think it is worth the few bucks spent." —Clancy

Get it from Amazon for $13.99.

Between my phone charger, headphone wires, and keyboard wire, I'm constantly getting tangled in my web of wires at my desk. I'll be ordering a pack of these ASAP!

Promising review: "I’m usually one who likes to hide cords behind walls but when that’s not an option, these are my favorite. I just grab a clump of unsightly wires, place them inside the fabric and zip them up! That’s it. I may use more than one back-to-back depending on the length of the wire run, but I’m so happy with how tidy they look." —BooLou

    Get a four-pack from Amazon for $9.97.

    19. A pretty 6-quart Dutch oven you can use to make all kinds of delicious meals — from stews and loaves of bread, this versatile piece of cookware is essential for your kitchen.

    a hunter green dutch oven
    Amazon

Promising review: "There’s nothing to dislike about this Lodge cast iron Dutch oven. The coating is precise and smooth, the lid fits perfectly, heat distribution is spot on perfect. This dude is heavy! I prepared chicken cacciatore for the first use. Started by browning chicken then removed, added peppers, onion, mushrooms, garlic, spices, red wine, and crushed tomatoes. Added the chicken back with some broth and 30 minutes later dinner was complete. Clean up was very impressive. Nothing sticky, no stains from wine and sauce. Looks brand new. I’ll be buying a smaller size as well. I own several pieces of Lodge cast iron for camping as well. Their quality can’t be beat in my opinion. You’ll love it!" —Jigman

BuzzFeed writer Emma Lord has and looooves this ottoman:

"If you flip the lid over, it has a wooden base, so you can *also* use this as a teensy snack table. I recently got one of these for my new apartment to stash my candles and ~candle accessories~ in and it's pretty much become my favorite piece of furniture?? I use it to prop up my feet during work hours and sometimes if I want to eat on my couch I'll use it as a tray. It's also sturdy enough to sit on, if I ever wanted to have guests over and needed an extra chair. It was RIDICULOUSLY easy to set up — I had it done in less than 10 minutes, and probably didn't even need the directions. It also just looks so darn cute (and comes in so many colors that I'm tempted to buy another!)."

Promising review: "I was using a small foldable step stool in my bedroom to reach the top shelves of my wardrobe. But you know, those things aren’t pretty. It wasn’t bringing me joy, just begrudging utility. This ottoman brings me joy. It’s pretty, it’s lightweight so I can move it easily to use it as a step stool, and the storage capacity is perfect for things like my nightly moisturizers, my Kindle and journals, and other little miscellaneous things." —Monica N.

Promising review: "I opened the box this morning and used it for the first time. Super simple and easy to use. My hair is thick and so I was worried about it working efficiently and effectively. After using it my hair feels like a million bucks. It's smooth and shiny! I now just have to pass my flat iron through my hair a couple of times just to get some of my curly baby hairs and I am ready for the day. It usually takes my hair forever to dry and it’s frizzy afterwards and then I have to use my curling iron or flat iron to style which takes forever as well. I am very pleased with my purchase! I can’t wait to have to dry my hair again, haha!" —Callie

    27. LED strip lights for the back of your TV or computer monitor that'll add some extra mood lighting to any room and are said to help prevent eyestrain. Go ahead, watch Netflix for days on end without concern.

a reviewer's tv with glowing purple lights behind it
a reviewer's tv with glowing blue lights behind it

You can choose from 16 colors and brightness adjustment levels.

Promising review: "I purchased these to back light my computer monitors and they work great. Very easy to apply (peel and stick) and easy to configure. Sixteen different colors, including white, can be selected via the remote control plus dimming. I think that background lighting can be more useful for computer monitors since you sit so much closer to them than your television. Also, the light given off by your monitor tends to be harsher since you are often viewing documents or other scenes with a white background. I'm thinking of purchasing longer strips of these lights to use as under-cabinet kitchen lighting or even to illuminate the toe kick area. You could set different moods by adjusting the intensity and color." —GMak

Get them from Amazon for $9.34.

    28. A set of flameless LED candles to bring a calming ambiance to your home — they have a timer feature so you can truly enjoy a zen moment without the added worry of "OMG, did I leave that candle on?"

These have a 10-key remote that allows you to control the brightness, flicker, *and* choose between a 2, 4, 6, or 8-hour timer. PS, get some batteries!

Promising review: "Love these! I don't like to burn real candles because I can't handle scents, but I like the look of candles as part of decor and candlelight. I hate those cheep faux wax looking ones. These are much more sleek and fashionable. You can't immediately tell they aren't real. It's not glass but a very sturdy hard plastic which I prefer with a toddler running around. My only small complaint is the remote sensor can be weird. The candles can be right next to each other, and sometimes, not all three will turn on, so I have to hit the button three to four times. There's also a flicker light option which helps make them more realistic. Buying more!" —Amazon customer

Get it from Amazon for $21.99+ (available in four colors).

    29. A "Liquipen" for anyone who grew up with a lava lamp but knows setting one up at their desk probably isn't *ideal*. Watching the little blobs float up and down will ease your mind and give you a chance to regroup before diving back into a project.

the cold brew pitcher and a full glass of coffee
    Maitland Quitmeyer / BuzzFeed, Amazon

Promising review: "We use this all the time in my house. A little less than when I initially bought it, as there's less call for cold brew in the winter, but it still gets some use. I generally prefer glass to plastic in my kitchen, but the body of it seems to have held up well despite extensive and extended use. I certainly recommend it if you're looking tired of making cold brew at home with the mason jar method but still don't want to spill the cash for a fancier-than-necessary alternative." —Matthew Baird

Get it from Amazon for $22.39+ (available in one or two quarts and three colors).

    Heather Braga / BuzzFeed

I'm obsessed with candles, so it was a no-brainer for my husband to gift me this surprisingly super fun gadget. It's really simple to use and charge, and it really works! I'll never have to buy another lighter again. My first charge lasted me seven months!

Promising review: "This is seriously the coolest device of my winter holiday. It makes lighting candles a breeze. Yes, there is a weird crackling noise, but that's a super minor annoyance. It's a super intuitive device. Plus the lighter with the USB (included), charge for a bit, then pop it open and light ALL THE THINGS; well, candles. I don't know how well it lights cigarettes or whatever. However, for my personal intended use, it's awesome!" —Jee W

Here's what BuzzFeed Shopping writer Taylor Steele has to say about the Always Pan: "As someone who neither enjoys cooking nor is particularly good at it, the Always Pan has made being in the kitchen feel like less of a chore. Having one pan that can do everything means I don't have to second-guess every cooking decision I make. I can boil and prepare pasta in it. And I can roast Brussels sprouts. And I can make the perfect fried egg. And I can steam dumplings. The best part is that everything slides so seamlessly out of the pan and onto the plate, which also makes clean up super fast and easy. Both the amateur (read: reluctant) cook and the more seasoned chef will enjoy creating fan favorites and new recipes in the Always Pan!"

And if you needed some more convincing, here's our review of the Always Pan, in which seven members of our team weigh in everything they love about it!

And...if you want some bonus points, mention to your loved one that Selena Gomez uses the cobalt blue pan on her cooking show!
