The Dyson V15 Detect Cordless Vacuum Is So High-Tech You'd Think It's From The Future

It has a freakin' laser on it that shows you exactly where those pesky dust bunnies have been hiding.

Well, hello there! I'm Heather: a new homeowner who suddenly has *a lot* of rooms that need constant vacuuming. Seriously, you have NO idea how much dust simply appears until you have more than a one-bedroom apartment to tend to.

In my old apartment, I was more than happy to take a few runs around the place with my Dyson V11 every so often and call it a day. It worked great and was slim enough to not take up my already limited space, but now that I have three floors to keep tidy I needed an upgrade. Enter: the Dyson V15 Detect Cordless Vacuum Cleaner.

This baby is *packed* with features that continue to amaze me each time I take it for a spin. Please forgive me while I proceed to blabber on about how incredible this vacuum is.

- It has a sensor that counts and measures dust particles (shown above, left) as you pick them up to show you actual data as you clean and validate just how deep you're cleaning your surfaces.

- It has a battery that lasts for an hour (which is really impressive for a cordless vacuum!) and an LCD screen on the back (shown above, right) that shows you how much time you have left as you use it.

- It has a built-in laser that highlights dust on hard surfaces to ensure you *never* miss a spot again. It is quite literally THE most satisfying cleaning feature I've ever experienced (more on that later).

The Dyson V15 comes with 10 tools and accessories to ensure you can clean every single crevice of your home correctly. It's an incredible feeling to order a single item and know you'll be prepared for nearly any mess that comes your way. Here's a full breakdown of what you'll receive:

- A Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head made of a soft nylon and anti-static carbon fiber.

- A High Torque cleaner head with an anti-tangle comb that'll powerfully pick up hair and dust from all kinds of flooring.

- A Hair Screw Tool for small spaces featuring a conical brush that'll suck up long hair and pet hair with ease.

- A Crevice Tool for precise cleaning around gaps and narrow spaces.

- A Stubborn Dirt Brush made with stiff nylon bristles that'll remove dirt from floors and furniture.

- A Mini Soft Dusting Brush designed with soft nylon bristles that'll carefully clean delicate surfaces.

- A Combination Tool featuring a brush and a wide nozzle that you can switch between while cleaning.

- A Wand Clip to store the combination and crevice tools directly on the handle of the vacuum.

- A Docking Station you can mount on your wall and provide your beloved vacuum with a home.

- And a charger, obviously.

As I've mentioned, I've used other Dyson vacuums in the past. However, this one has truly blown me away — mainly due to the built-in laser feature that literally highlights dirt, dust, and debris as you clean. Here it is in action:

This feature has made cleaning extremely satisfying. The green laser showcases the dirt, but more importantly reveals how clean the surface is after you go over it. Seriously, Monica Geller would be *shaking* in her boots.

It's also made it really easy to clean my entire house without turning on any lights. I hadn't thought about how much of an annoyance it was in the past to flip the light switches on as I ventured through each room. Thanks to this lil' laser I can see BETTER while cleaning in the dark.

The "Laser Slim Fluffy Cleaner Head," as shown below, also has some excellent swiveling abilities. It's a great in-between size that makes it easy to sneak into crevices and corners without having to readjust the way I'm holding the vacuum (or switch to the attachment).

I'm admittedly a little lazy (whatever) and don't always have the patience to swap out the vacuum attachments to get into the corners of every room. Luckily my go-to attachment (duh, the one with the laser) swivels easily and fits into most corners that the larger, standard attachment wasn't able to. I'd still recommend swapping to the Crevice Tool for REALLY narrow gaps that could use a deep clean, but for things like under your kitchen chairs, under your nightstands, or the corners of your bathroom, this one will do the trick (and do it well).

However, this doesn't mean you should sleep on the other attachments! There are quite a few (as mentioned earlier) and each one has a specific purpose to help you clean your home to the best of your ability. Even Cinderella's Evil Stepmother won't be able to snicker at your handiwork.

When I need to clean my stairs I always swap to the handheld version (you can disconnect the long portion of the vacuum and connect the attachment to the motor directly), as it's much easier to maneuver. For that, I make use of the Slim Fluffy Cleaning Head because it's made of a soft nylon brush that won't scratch my wood floors / stairs. To clean that gross crevice in between the stove and my kitchen counters where, for whatever reason, a plethora of crumbs live, I swap to the Crevice Tool. I've yet to test out the Soft Dusting Brush, but I know it can be used to suck dust out of mattresses. You better BELIEVE that's on my to-do list.

Another feature I personally think is really cool? The ability to switch into different suction modes. You have the options of Eco, Medium, or Boost which can be changed by a quick tap of the screen.

The three power modes are rather self-explanatory. Eco is the lowest power and will make your battery last longer. Medium is consider the standard, average amount of power. And, of course, Boost will give you an extra burst of sucking power to pick up any stubborn debris that comes your way.

TBH, if I only had one complaint to formally make about this vacuum it's that the button to keep it running has to be held the entire time it is in use. Hello, Dyson? I'd like to request a lock of some sort because my hands are small and it's tiring to hold for long periods of time!  And yet.....the pain is WORTH it for the way it cleans my home. This is standard on all Dyson vacuums, by the way, not just the V15. So I'll continue to mildly lament about it until the geniuses over there hear my pleas.
