    FEAR

It was his birthday, he woke up. As soon as he stepped down the bed, there was a bicycle - his birthday present, awaiting him. It was a surprise from his father. His Dad, was his best friend, he was more close to his dad than his mother. And then as any birthday, they cut the cake and it was the best start of a birth day one could wish for. His father drove the car to school. Suddenly, It started raining heavily, the vision was blur and the wipers stopped working. Half way through, his father thought that slowly they would reach school. Due to heavy rains there were pits on the road. The traffic was diverted to the other side of road because a flyover collapsed. From the opposite side a truck was coming, at great speed and soon it lost control. The Father tried his best, applied the breaks, and tried to control the car but it was too late... The road was slippery, the car rushed towards the canal and... Somehow the son survived but father could not. The clouds of mishap struck hard. And then the alarm rang! It was his birthday. But there was no cycle. No surprise and no one to wish Happy Birthday. Everything, everything that happened that morning he saw it again in his dream. It's been 20 years now. He still hates the rains. Still avoids going out in the rains as much as he can. But he has to go out today. Face this awful rain. He took his car from garage, secured his seatbelt and start the ignition. He drove, putting his fear at the back of his mind. Because he has to. He has a destination to reach today. Over the bumpy road, under the heavy rains, he didn't drove above 30km/hr. All this while, remembering all the happy childhood days instead of the inevitable. He shoved it in his back of mind. Finally, he reached his destination. School. His son's school. From afar he can see his son - wearing his raincoat, running towards him. And his smile melt away everything. Every fear was wiped off by his contagious smile. His smile had a reassurance, a trust a child has on his dad. All his worries seemed to fade away, one by one. As his child entered the car, he was determined to fresh start this time. He secured his son's seatbelt and drove through rains once again! Just this time, he was happy as he had a reassurance that he won't let anything happen to his son. And not even the floods can stop him today. As they were about to reach home, he felt something. A hand relaxed on his shoulder. It was his father and he whispered - Life goes on my child! You ought to face your fear. Until and unless you give a try, there is nothing you can change. Don't get scared by your fear, scare your fear! Thank you Written by - HK
