23rd February 2016, following a club meeting in the pub the idea of a mascot was mentioned. A few quid was put on a table and Pulpo was born. He arrived all wide eyed and lovable the next day ready to go.
Meet Pulpo.
They are a BSAC diving club who meet weekly to dive and practice their skills in the local pool. Pulpo joins in sometimes.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...
Things haven't always gone so swimmingly for poor Pulpo. One day he was octosnatched from the pub and this picture appeared...
Please don't eat me!
Soon enough he was safely returned ready to go motorcycling!
Hooked on the adrenaline his next adventure was helicopter flying at a local airfield!
As a diving club they visit Malta every Summer...obviously Pulpo came too. He had a great time despite being temporarily 'lost' at one of the dive sites. The good people surfaced to look for him and return him to shore!

Every year BSAC hold a diving conference, last year at the NEC in Birmingham in conjunction with the Dive Show. Pulpo met loads of people including a NASA scuba diver, dangerous creature photographers and BSAC themselves. He even got published in their magazine!
November last year, another dive trip. This time to the Farne Islands to see the baby seals. One was having trouble swimming so a diver helped him get to shore, via their boat. Pulpo helped save him!
He couldn't swim so well...
So, one year on to celebrate the club and Pulpo's role in it, a cake was baked! However, before he saw it....someone squashed it in the car. The intentions were good! Happy 1st birthday, Pulpo!
