There are plenty of bizarre-sounding food combinations out there, but maybe you shouldn't judge an unusual flavor preference until you try it. So Redditor u/yohoxxz asked, "What's the most unusual food combination that you've tried and actually enjoyed?" Here's what people said.
."Sloppy Joes with salt and vinegar potato chips. Use the chips to scoop up the sloppy joe meat or put them in the sammie itself. It’s ridiculously good."
."I dip chicken nuggets and fries into honey. McDonald's used to have honey dipping sauce back in the '80s. The combo is still so good."
."Apple pie and good-quality sharp cheddar is where it's at."
."My mom would make me cream cheese and olive sandwiches — the green ones with pimento or black olives — back in the '70s when I was a child. It still tastes delicious."
."I love a bagel with cream cheese, strawberry jam, and spicy Havarti cheese. It might seem weird, but the strawberry jam pairs so well with the spicy cheese and the tangy cream cheese."
."One of the weird favorites in my house growing up was cream cheese and walnut sandwiches on whole wheat bread. Make a layer of cream cheese topped with chopped walnuts. It's weird, but the taste and textures are just lovely!
."I've been told by some people that cream cheese and jelly sandwiches seem weird, but I've enjoyed them since I was a child."
."Orange juice over ice with French vanilla coffee creamer. Try it!"
."Peanut butter and hot pepper jelly sandwich. It is life-changing. Try it with any hot and spicy jam or jelly that strikes your fancy."
."Pickle and peanut butter sandwich on toasted bread. My coworker introduced me to this combinations and it slaps."
."My family always spread grape jelly on top of grilled cheese sandwiches. I discovered in my teens that was not typical, but every friend who ever tried it at my house became a convert!"
."Savory oatmeal with cheese, hot sauce, and salami. Don't knock it 'til you try it."
.Potato chips (specifically Pringles) dipped in apple sauce."
."Fritos on a tuna or peanut butter sandwich. It adds a nice crunch and the contrasting flavors taste good."
."Grilled cheese dipped in canned peach juice. Get yourself a jar of canned peaches and dip your grilled cheese like you would with tomato soup. This was a Sunday lunch staple when I was growing up. The combination of savory grilled cheese and sweet peach syrup is so good together."
."Animal crackers with American cheese slices. It is the best. Put an animal cracker on top of a slice of cheese and then rip off just the right amount to match the size of the cracker. I give this snack five stars."
."Honey Nut Cheerios with hot chocolate instead of regular milk. Heck, any cereal with chocolate milk!"
."I always thought eating banana with any type of rice was a normal thing because my mom would always cut up bananas and put it into our Mexican rice growing up. Now I make this same thing for my daughters."
."I raised three kids and now four grandkids on what we call 'PBC roll ups.' You take some cheddar slices, spread peanut butter on top, and roll it up. I grew up on this snack and passed it down. It is the best."
."My niece makes spaghetti tacos — spaghetti noodles, tomato sauce and all — stuffed into crunchy taco shells."
."In my family, we have a go-to dish we call 'cracker salad.' You take Ritz crackers, mayo, relish, diced tomatoes, and boiled eggs and mash them all together. It's amazing when it's fresh, and the crackers are still crunchy."
."Peanut butter and onion sandwiches made with two slices of bread, sliced raw Vidalia onion, and smooth peanut butter. The crunch and taste of the onion pair wonderfully with the creamy sweetness of the peanut butter. I particularly like to eat this sandwich with a beer."
."People seem to find it strange that my go-to snack is nothing more than a warm tortilla topped with a substantial amount of yellow mustard ¯\_(ツ)_/¯."
."Everything bagel with cream cheese and...orange marmalade. It’s SO good."
."I dip buttered toast in tea. Not only does the soggy toast taste great, but I also really love drinking the tea after it gets that buttery film on top."
."Peanut butter and jelly on a hamburger. A bar by my house actually serves this. It's so good, and supposedly one of their more popular dishes."
