Scott Evans has nothing but love for his older brother Chris Evans and his relationship with his girlfriend Alba Baptista.

On the Viall Files podcast hosted by ex-Bachelor Nick Viall, Barbie actor Scott spoke about how the Internet was upset when his brother shared he was no longer single.

News broke last year that the actor had been quietly dating the Portuguese actress, Alba, "for over a year" and that it was "serious."

"The way people can be, it can be pretty hard to date someone like that," Scott said of the pressure. "Because you think, 'I’m just dating a person, he’s a guy,' and all of a sudden, it’s article after article after article."

"[Then] for everybody to be just like, 'You are a piece of crap' to anybody he’s tried to date, just destroying them," Scott explained.

Last year, in a since-deleted viral Tweet, someone from Chris' fandom wrote about the relationship: "Your Fandom is not upset because you’re in a relationship. Rather, it was the reveal of your relationship that made us feel betrayed by you. We feel betrayed by the Chris you lead us to believe is you [...] the rude awakening that our belief in you is based on nothing but lies than you’ve been selling us."

"It makes relationships kind of hard for him," shared Scott about the focus on Chris’ personal life.

"I can’t tell you how many messages and things I get tagged in on the daily — 'If your brother just meets me, we are going to be in love,” Scott said. "Everybody’s always commenting, being like, “Hey, brother-in-law.”

“It’s been a slow burn over the years, it’s not like he catapulted into fame," explained Scott. "We watched the internet happen. Twitter wasn’t around when he first started making movies, so being able to just see it all…and what can happen…it can be a dark place and people can get very bold.”

When asked if Scott was overprotective of his brother, he answered, "Of course! You have to be."

Scott confirmed, he "approves" of their relationship and added that if he didn't, his family would know about it.
