The main thing that has happened in daily work-life during the last two and a half years is the fact that many workers have moved from working on their businesses’ own premises to somewhere else, usually home.
Although working from home has generally been warmly welcomed by many workers, this has also been causing some problems. These problems include (for example) a lack of any kind of real human interaction and the physical problems that the lack of good work ergonomics is causing in many "home offices".
Even though the pandemic has been a really challenging time for the hotel and travel industry in general, it has also created plenty of room for innovation. One of these innovations is making it possible to actually work from a hotel. This means that working from a hotel has become a real trend in the hotel industry.
For whom is this trend suitable for?
The work from hotel concept is suitable for many kinds of people, which includes, for example, business travelers; regular office workers, who want to find better facilities; and casual travelers, who also want to be productive during their holidays.
Employers, on the other hand, have begun to favor the so-called "work from anywhere" (WFA) principle, which offers completely new opportunities for their employees. Such opportunities include, for example, working freely from anywhere in the world, at any time.
This, on the other hand, allows employees to travel freely even outside of their regular paid holidays.When willing to do so, the work from home trend really comes in handy as it allows you to fully combine your vacation with office work.
The rise of "hybrid hotels"
The potential and likely rise in the work from anywhere trend means that hotels all around the world are seeing this new kind of trend as a real opportunity.
Hotel rooms may previously have been dedicated to sleeping, resting, and relaxation, but more mixed-use environments are being explored as hotels are reopening their doors and thinking about new ideas to attract customers as well as stand out from their competitors.
Even though many hotels have been offering remote working opportunities for a long time, the demand for the quality of the work facilities is always rising, and nowadays it isn’t enough to just have a simple office chair and a writing desk inside a hotel room to satisfy the needs of modern business travelers.
Even though the demand all around the world is always growing, there still aren’t too many hotels that have actually been designed for remote working, meetings, conferences, etc.
This will probably be changing in the near future, as the new era of hybrid hotels has already begun.
