For most of us, the worst thing about staying somewhere nice is having to go home to our regular beds, bathroom, and non-mini toiletries. So, we asked Laura Dominquez, director of front office and Emma Pickard, assistant front office manager from New York's The Plaza Hotel how we can make our homes feel a little more like a classy hotel. 1. Choose a uniform scent for your bathroom products.

You might not have a bathroom stocked with adorable mini toiletries, but one trick hotels employ to create an extra lovely bathroom experience is making sure all their products — soaps and lotions — have the same scent.

2. Give your home a signature fragrance — like, say, gardenia.

Gardenia is a fresh, pretty scent, so it's no surprise that it's the one The Plaza chose to use for its custom-made scented beads they leave in their closets. Since you're probably not going to have custom beads made for your closets, you could do a scented candle instead.

3. Keep a combination of bath towels, hand towels, and face towels in your bathroom.

Besides sheets, good towels are the best thing about hotel rooms — and there's no reason why you can't have the same delightful towel experience at home. Having multiple towels for different purposes may seem excessive but just remember how damn good it feels having all those fluffy options in hotels.

6. When cleaning, leave your vacuuming until the very end.

Always vacuuming last helps ensure that all dust and debris that falls to the floor when you're making the bed, dusting furniture, or cleaning the bathroom isn’t missed.

7. And when you're doing your chores, open a window if the weather allows.
