There's little more luxurious than spending the night in a fancy-ass hotel.

For most of us, the worst thing about staying somewhere nice is having to go home to our regular beds, bathroom, and non-mini toiletries. So, we asked Laura Dominquez, director of front office and Emma Pickard, assistant front office manager from New York's The Plaza Hotel how we can make our homes feel a little more like a classy hotel. Here's what they had to say:

    1. Choose a uniform scent for your bathroom products.

You might not have a bathroom stocked with adorable mini toiletries, but one trick hotels employ to create an extra lovely bathroom experience is making sure all their products — soaps and lotions — have the same scent.

    2. Give your home a signature fragrance — like, say, gardenia.

Gardenia is a fresh, pretty scent, so it's no surprise that it's the one The Plaza chose to use for its custom-made scented beads they leave in their closets. Since you're probably not going to have custom beads made for your closets, you could do a scented candle instead.

Get it from Amazon for $14.99.

    3. Keep a combination of bath towels, hand towels, and face towels in your bathroom.

Besides sheets, good towels are the best thing about hotel rooms — and there's no reason why you can't have the same delightful towel experience at home. Having multiple towels for different purposes may seem excessive but just remember how damn good it feels having all those fluffy options in hotels.

    4. And for an exceptionally hotel-esque look, try rolling your towels instead of folding them.

Rolling your towels can also save space in your closet so really, there's no reason not to.

    5. Keep your carpets and upholstery smelling fresh.

Apparently the secret to keeping fancy hotel rooms fresh is a regular deep cleaning! According to Cheryl Mendelson's Home Comforts you should shampoo your carpets every two to three years.

    6. When cleaning, leave your vacuuming until the very end.

Always vacuuming last helps ensure that all dust and debris that falls to the floor when you're making the bed, dusting furniture, or cleaning the bathroom isn’t missed.

    7. And when you're doing your chores, open a window if the weather allows.

Hotel rooms are aired out between guests, but every room deserves a regular fresh breeze.

    8. Invest in a set of hotel-quality white sheets.

The Plaza gets their sheets custom-made but they always choose 450-thread count sets made from pure cotton, which is able to be bleached when necessary. If pure cotton sheets sound like something you'd be into, you can get a queen-size 100% cotton set from Target for $40. If you're looking for something a little more stain-resistant, this sheet set has over 33,000 reviews and costs $24.70.

    9. Make your bed properly every single day.

The Plaza is alllllll about those tightly tucked hospital corners. If you haven't mastered the technique yourself, you can find a really helpful how-to video on YouTube.

    10. Make sure your bedding is as plush as possible.

Even if your mattress is in great quality, most can do with an extra little padding. This mattress topper has a 4.3-star rating and over 1,000 reviews.

Get it from Amazon for $69.90.

    11. Especially when it comes to your pillow.

The ~preferred pillows~ of The Plaza are Northern Feather down-filled pillows, which you can get on Amazon for $86.31. But honestly, any cloud-like pillow will make your bed way cozier. If you're looking for a more affordable alternative you can get a set of two pillows with over 2,000 reviews from Amazon for $31.99.

    12. And get yourself a fluffy-ass robe.

If the white robe is the first thing you reach for when you're staying in a nice hotel, there's no reason why you can't get yourself one to wear at home too!

Get one from Amazon for $44.99+. Available in three sizes and 12 colors.
