If your vehicle's battery has gone flat, you may be able to use jumper cables to jump start it from a good samaritan’s vehicle, if you can attach jumper cables properly on your and your savior's vehicle. As long as you connect the lead cables properly, it will be ready to start off in a few minutes.
To jumpstart your vehicle, follow these basic steps:
1. Before you reach for your jump leads, first make sure to switch off your ignition. Precisely the same applies to the vehicle you will be using to jumpstart your battery from.
2. Make Sure both vehicles are parked in close proximity enough for the cables to reach each other, but far apart enough so the bumpers of the cars are not touching each other.
3. Make sure both cars are in neutral gear, together with the handbrakes on prior to when you attempt a jump start.
4. Spread out your cables from each other, from here on you do not want the cables to touch one another.
5. Begin with hooking up the red jump lead to the positive port of the car with the empty battery, The positive lead from the battery is going to be slightly larger than the negative and definitely will have a + sign on it as well as a red marking.
