Pumpkin carving is a Halloween classic that should not be overlooked! A fun activity to do with family, friends, or even by yourself. Scary movies may seem to be the go to, but nothing beats the chill one gets from being immersed in a horror game! There is a numerous array of horror games to give you those chills. Such games include: Resident Evil, Until Dawn, Dead by Daylight, The Evil Within 2. Don’t have a gaming system? Don’t worry, there are still games for you! Five Nights at Freddy’s, Cry of Fear, and Serena are just a few great options available on your computer or laptop. Really want to be scared? Make sure to play these games in the dark.

    4. Halloween Scavenger Hunt At Home

We all love our halloween festivities. This year unfortunately we have to improvise and make the best of the holiday. A halloween scavenger hunt at home is just what we need to keep the spooky spirits alive. It's a combination of easter and halloween. You and your close friends or family can decide on what the scavenger hunt can lead to. Probably you will find a ghost or maybe even a pot of gold filled with spooky stuff and candy. This is a way better alternative to trick or treating during the pandemic. We all still want to be able to celebrate and still be the safest possible.

    5. Halloween Treat Decorating Contest

Halloween would not be the same without treats. Other than the costumes, this is what Halloween is all about. As a family, or with friends, you can decorate cookies or cake pops in many spooky ways. Once everyone is done you can decide who the winner is. Winners can either recieve a valuable prize or maybe even a spooky basket. There are so many creative ways to enjoy the spooky season and maintain safe social distance precautions.

    6. Virtual Scary Movies

Who doesn’t enjoy the warm feeling of getting together with your best friends and watching a scary movie? By now, we know all too well the feeling of wanting to hang out with your friends, but being unable to do so because of quarantine or fear of spreading the virus. Look no further than streaming your favorite halloween thriller through Zoom or another virtual platform of choice! This option provides the safety of social distancing while keeping the joy of hearing your friends scream because of that jumpscare!

    7. Halloween Contests

2020 hasn't been what we expected. So we have to change the way we celebrate our holidays. With the spooky season (Halloween) coming up we have to be even more creative. Since we can't go around to strangers' houses due to the fear of getting infected. Halloween contests are the next best thing if i do say so myself. As a family or small group of friends you can decide whether it will be a costume, rally race, or a candy contest. Obviously we can be even more creative with the contests but we will have the best of times being safe and practicing social distancing.

    8. Driving to See Halloween-Decorated Houses

A great way to be safe as well as have some fun during Halloween is to drive through neighborhoods looking for Halloween-themed decorated houses. This activity can also be done in the spirit of Christmas! There are a few gems that you can find when searching for good houses in your own neighborhood to drive by such as the Greeley Griswalds. This house will give you and your family a show in the comfort of your own car with your own car radio providing the music! So pack up the kids, some Halloween candy, and a blanket because you’re in for a treat!

    9. Creating “Drive-by Spooky Baskets” for Friends and Family

During times like these, support and love from your loved ones is vital. What better way to feel closer to them, especially through the holidays, than a personalized spooky basket! These baskets are the perfect way to show your love and support from a distance. You can spend a whole day putting together blankets, mini pumpkins, slippers, candy, and all things Halloween into a basket to drive by and set on your loved ones’ front door. With not much to look forward to during the holidays, this is not only a guaranteed way to make someone’s day and put them in the Halloween spirit, but will also be a fun activity to do on your own!

    10. Drive-Thru Haunted House

I can’t say I personally love haunted houses but we all have that one friend who just can't get enough. On a typical halloween, that friend of mine would drag me to the scariest haunted house in town and insist I lead the pack. Now, because of nation wide social distancing policies, haunted houses have become a little tricky to pull off. You may be thinking, “a drive thru haunted house doesn’t seem like it would be scary at all” and to that I say, have you ever been through a drive thru haunted house? Never judge a book by it’s cover!

If scaring the neighborhood children is what gets you up in the morning, imagine what you could turn your garage or empty lot into. If getting spooked yourself is more your speed, look into attending a drive thru haunted house near you! A local Denver option is: https://www.cityofthedeadhaunt.com/
