10 Paramore Songs To Get You Pumped For After Laughter

4 years after releasing their self-titled album, Paramore is back and dropping a new album, After Laughter, on May 12th.

    1. "Told You So"

The latest single from After Laughter released last week, Told You So is moody, funky, and has a beautiful music video full of reds and shots of the band jamming on a car ride, directed by band drummer Zac Farro.

    2. "All We Know"

From Paramore’s first album, All We Know is Falling, this song shows the band’s beginnings and the video contains some great footage of early tour dates.

The fast, moody track from Brand New Eyes remains one of my all time favorite songs. Zac Farro’s iconic drumming is rhythmic, incessant, and Hayley’s vocals shine as she dances around the band with a light bulb.

    4. "For a Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic"

Someone once asked me what my favorite Paramore song was and I gave a 5 minute defense on why "For a Pessimist, I’m Pretty Optimistic" is a perfect song. The track, from Riot!, finds its punk groove and has relatable lyrics that capture a mini breakdown in one song.

    5. "Still Into You"

One of the hits from self-titled, "Still Into You" is bright, bubbly, and a feel good track that makes me want to believe that love is real after all. If love isn’t real, then we still have the band riding bikes through a house, laughing together.

    6. "Fences"

This track captures the spirit of the Riot! era and is unbelievably catch for containing such ominous lyrics. The bright beats could almost be those from a dance track, foreshadowing tonal shifts that would come with later albums, that helped solidify the band among its pop-punk peers.

    7. "Playing God"

Somewhere at home, I still have the black & white sunglasses from this video that I purchased off the merch sight in 2010. The lyrics are introspective, the beat is laid back, and the shots of the band tied up in the basement are hilarious.

    8. "Brick by Boring Brick"

Once at a middle school dance, I kept requesting "Brick By Boring Brick" but the dj never played it, so instead I spent the next 2 hours belting it over the "Cha-Cha Slide" to everyone around me. It’s energetic and vibrant and makes me want to grab a sledgehammer and tear down a castle.

    9. "Decode"

Occasionally, I wake up in the middle of the night and remember that "Decode" was written for the Twilight movie soundtrack. For those not familiar with the Twilight saga films, that will explain the shots of sparkly Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the video, but that aside, the song is emotional, dark, and contains truly beautiful melodies.

    10. "Misery Business"

True story, my tider bio is the opening lyrics to "Misery Business." This track is the epitome of everyone’s middle school angst and is to date one of Paramore’s best songs. It’s catchy, angsty, and nostalgic all in 3 minutes.
