Han Kjøbenhavn is known for its bold and striking pieces, and the "Chthonic Penumbra" collection is no exception. Hummel shared that there is a common ground, aesthetic, and audience between Han Kjøbenhavn and Diablo. The fashion house's recent runway and prêt-à-porter lines lean towards dark and disturbing imagery, with an emphasis on black leather and imposing silhouettes, which makes the franchise a good fit.
Davidsen shared that he was creatively inspired by Diablo 4's art direction, particularly the "big, beautiful evil Renaissance" style and its "dark and dystopian" atmosphere. However, he wanted to convey the player's adventure through the game's world of sanctuary in addition to its dark tones.
The collection includes leather, rubber, and other skin-tight materials inspired by Diablo's Lilith, and fabrics inspired by the journey, such as mesh that conveys the sense of the game's ghostly spirits. Han Kjøbenhavn's collection is not just limited to runway fashion, but also includes casual, ready-to-wear pieces.
The collaboration is a departure from Han Kjøbenhavn's typical collaborations with labels like Puma and Pendleton Woolen Mills, and it is evident that the partnership with Diablo and Blizzard has been a pleasant journey.
