7 Shows You Need To Watch When You Need A Break

Dynasty (2017- Present)

This show is a modernized reboot of the classic 80's show with the same name. It follows two of the wealthiest families in America, the Carringtons and the Colbys as they fight for their control of money and their children. Dynasty not only shows the glamourous side of being rich but it also follows the dark and corrupt world built on backroom deals.

Dynasty was renewed for a fourth season last January and aired their season 3 finale last May, but they had to stop filming because of the pandemic. But this October, some of the actors announced that they already started filming for the 4th season (as a giant fan...I am very excited and I literally cried when I knew that they were back in production). I will tell you now that this show has great casting and the storylines are very exciting, captivating and this show will make you go through a roller coaster of emotions.

FRIENDS (1994-2004)

Friends follows the lives of six reckless adults that live in Manhattan, as they embark in adventures which make their lives troublesome and very exciting.

Look, this is a classic and iconic show. You should definitely watch it because its very realistic and fun at the same time. Some episodes are very wholesome and that's one reason why the show is so freaking good. I am going to tell you that this show will make you laugh hard and cry hard.

The Good Place (2016-2020)

Eleanor Shellstrop, a deceased saleswoman who lived a crappy and morally corrupt life, finds herself in a heaven-like afterlife called "The Good Place" in a case of mistaken identity and tries to hide her past in order to stay there. This show also follows Chidi Anagonye, a professor of ethics and moral philosophy; Tahani Al-Jamil, a rich British philanthropist; Jason Mendoza, an amateur DJ and drug dealer from Jacksonville, Florida; Michael, a Bad Place architect who runs The Good Place neighborhood where the 4 humans stay; and Janet, a programmed guide and knowledge who acts as the Good Place's main source of information.

The Good Place ended last January with a very emotional episode. This show teaches us a lot of life lessons while making us laugh at the same time. This sitcom is so great because of the wholesome storylines and funny jokes. Definitely a must watch.

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist

After an unusual event, computer smart, Zoey Clarke magically begins to hear stranger's, friends, co-workers, and even her family's innermost feelings through song but only to her like she is the only person who can hear it. She then questions her sanity but after some from Mo, her musically inclined neighbor, and making a breakthrough with her very ill father, Zoey realizes that this curse may just be an amazing gift, as she now connects with the world more.

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist teaches us most about the importance of family in one's life. This show is a musical, comedy and it is also a drama. The show is up for a second season (I am...AHHHHH) and they announced it last June. You should watch it because it's so fun when you hear them sing, and your just going to sing with them all of a sudden.

High School Musical: The Musical The Series

Disney

"High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" shows the members of the drama club and faculty as they prepare for their play production "High School Musical: The Musical". New romances bloom, old friendships are tested while new ones bloom, rivalries flare, and their lives are changed as they discover the magical power that only high school theater can provide.

This series shows some classic HSM scenes from the movie by reenacting them. Take note...they will sing some of the OG songs from the movies that will make you remember your childhood and make you sing. They also have new songs to introduce that will be part of your playlist because they are gooooood. The show teaches us more about friendships and relationships. The show's second season was announced and it is said to premiere in winter but due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was delayed. The second season will showcase the drama department's production of a Disney classic, "Beauty and the Beast"

Victorious (2010-2013)

Tori Vega, a sixteen year old girl, finally gets a chance to show her talents and shine away from her sister's shadow after she attends a well known high school of performing arts. She then makes new friends with Andre, the very talented musician and singer in Hollywood Arts; Cat, the very bubbly, energetic and talented singer and actor; Robbie; the awkward but smart ventriloquist; Beck; the popular good looking guy who is very good at acting; and last but not the least, Jade, the kinda friend and enemy of Tori, who loves scissors and very good in acting, singing and dancing.

The show focuses on singing and performing, but most especially...friendships. It also produced bops that I listen to everyday. The show was cancelled in 2013. They also celebrated their 10 year anniversary last March through a zoom meeting which made me happy because they reunited. Lastly, this show will make you sing and dance your heart out.

iCarly (2007-2012)

Carly and her bestfriend Sam was tasked to take videos of the audition for their school's talent show, while Freddie, a geek helps them record it but uploads a wrong video instead of the video for the talent show. In the video they talk about their mean teacher, Miss Briggs, the teacher who asked them to video the auditions. The video that Freddie posted became viral and Carly then suggests to start a webcast that becomes a major hit. Even though they have a successful show, they still stumble through hardships and exciting adventures that help them to learn and discover new things.

This show teaches us about family and friendships too like some of the shows I mentioned but this is very different from the others because it includes the internet and that the internet is not all cupcakes and rainbows. They also show how the characters grow through the 6 season run. Though it was aired 13 years ago, it will not feel old because just like I said it involves the internet and you will definitely learn tons of stuff from this iconic show.

These shows are amazing in their own different ways. I really recommend all of these. I hope you have fun watching these as much as I did. <33
