11 Reasons New York City Dads Are Tougher Than Your Dad

Being a father in NYC is certainly a struggle, but being a father of five in NYC? Impossible. Watch The Jim Gaffigan Show on TV Land July 15 at 10/9c to see how it’s done.

1. NYC dads have to explain a lot more to their kids than most dads.

2. Most dads get some space from their kids when they're loud, but NYC apartments are tiny, so dads are always within earshot.

3. NYC dads walk their kids to most places. They don't have the luxury of giving their kid a touchpad for some quiet time.

4. Kids are closer to a lot more garbage, so they get a lot dirtier.

5. Most kids just eat sugar, but NYC kids are surrounded by coffee. God help us all.

6. It's much harder to scold your child for coloring on the wall when you live in New York.

7. NYC kids are used to protests, so they're SO much harder to argue with.

8. Any time you think about putting them to bed, they'll be like, "Nap time? Ayy, ohhh, what's the matta witchu? I'm going out with Jimmy, Pops."

9. The phrase "Don't touch that" carries much higher stakes in NYC.

10. And when they do touch things, they always get sick, because everything in New York is gross.

11. And kids in NYC are all business — stocks, bonds, you name it — but, when it's time to merge their company with another corporation, guess who has to foot the legal bills? That's right: Dad.

It doesn’t get much tougher than NYC. Watch The Jim Gaffigan Show on TV Land July 15th at 10/9c to see just how tough it can be.
