10 Times Friday Night Lights Emotionally Destroyed You

In honor of the best television drama in recent history's (yeah, I said it), 10th birthday, here are some times that this small Texas town made you cry a river. Clear eyes full hearts am I right?!

For full effect, please go listen to Explosions in the Sky's album "The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place".

    1. When they showed the dangers of football, and paralyzed the star quarterback...IN THE FIRST EPISODE.

    2. When Mrs. T was extremely nervous about telling Coach she was pregnant, and he reacted so wonderfully that we all wanted him as our husband.

*I'm already crying as I write this, tbh.

    3. Coach Taylor's best inspirational halftime speech during the State Championship game.

Terrible video quality, I know, but the whole thing just needed to be here in its entirety.

    4. When Matt finally broke down and let Coach know what was going on inside his head.

THE SHOWER! THE SCREAMING! THE FEELS! Poor Matt. *Again, terrible quality, but go watch it on Netflix*

    5. The moment of pure joy that the whole Williams family feels when Smash finally gets to play college football.

YAAAS SMASH! He worked so hard for so long, made a lot of mistakes, and came out the other side a better man.

    6. The Son. Just the whole episode. Seriously, if you want to cry and you have 45 minutes to spare, this is the one.

How was Zach Gilford not nominated for an Emmy for this episode....

    7. When Tim and Lyla say their last goodbye, and you know it's selfish but you want Lyla to stay in Dillon forever.

    NBC / Via fnl-forever.tumblr.com

Might be biased, but I'm Team Tim and Lyla forever (sorry Jason, Tyra, and the Stratton sisters Rigs had a three-way with).

    8. When Tim goes to jail for Billy so his kids would have better parents than they did.

    NBC / Via fnl-forever.tumblr.com

The Riggins boys had such a compelling relationship to watch. From fighting each other and destroying the house, to both sleeping with their neighbor (who was a single mom, btw), to Tim literally sacrificing his freedom for Billy, I never got tired of their scenes.

    9. When Vince let loose about his feelings towards his dad to Coach.

Poor Vince. This is only slightly more tearjerking than when Coach says "You may never know how proud I am of you".

    10. When Eric realizes what a goddamn angel his wife is and finally lets her pursue her dreams.

So, there you have it. 10 times that FNL literally tore your heart apart. Happy 10th Birthday!

Honorable mentions go to Tyra getting into college and escaping her own personal hellhole, Tim and Jason saying goodbye in New Jersey, and Landry's murder arc (just kidding).
