Best Wi-Fi Routers

Posted on

One of the most important aspects of any wireless router is the coverage and speed that we get through the Wi-Fi network. Currently, there is broadband that offers above 100 megabytes and we have even reached the 500 megabytes of download offered by the operator ONO. However, on many occasions, we will not get the maximum Internet speed via Wi-Fi due to the poor wireless performance of the routers.

Let’s talk about the best Wi-Fi routers we can find on the market today. The latest wireless 802.11 AC can achieve amazing speeds. Some of the main features of this standard are the following:

* In the first generation of Wi-Fi AC routers, a channel width of 80MHz is used for the 5GHz band, this allows for higher speeds thanks to greater bandwidth. In the second generation of Wi-Fi AC routers, you will reach channel widths of up to 160MHz.

* Use of three and four streams of data (Streams). With the new Wi-Fi AC technology, there are routers that have 3 antennas in MIMO 4T4R configuration with which we can achieve speeds up to 1300Mbps. The manufacturer ASUS has recently launched a router with 4 antennas in MIMO configuration 4T4R able to get 1700Mbps in the band of 5GHz.

* Use of 256-QAM signal modulation and techniques to make wireless transmission more efficient, such as LPDC (Low-Density Parity Check) and STBC (Space-Time Block Codes).

* Beamforming: The new equipment incorporates a technology capable of focusing the signal at a certain point to provide greater coverage and speed wherever the device is.

D-Link DIR-868L AC1750

The main features of this neutral router are that it incorporates dual band simultaneous with Wi-Fi AC. We can achieve a speed of up to 450Mbps in the 2.4GHz band and up to 1300Mbps in the 5GHz band thanks to its three internal antennas in MIMO 3T3R configuration for each frequency band. Another featureit incorporates is that is Gigabit Ethernet ports and a high-performance USB 3.0 port.

ASUS RT-AC68u AC1900

The new ASUS router is novelty compared to its more direct competitors. It is dual band simultaneous with Wi-Fi AC, but in the 2.4GHz band it uses a 256-QAM signal modulation to get a speed of up to 600mbps (for the 450Mbps of its rivals). This technology is called TurboQAM. Only devices incorporating Broadcom chipset will benefit from that additional speed.

Regarding the 5GHz band, we can achieve a speed of up to 1300Mbps thanks to its three antennas in MIMO 3T3R configuration. One other feature of this model isthat it incorporates USB 3.0 ports for file sharing at maximum speed.

TP-LINK Archer C9 AC1900

Thisrouter incorporates the latest wireless technology with Wi-Fi AC and enables speeds of up to 600Mbps and a speed of up to 1300Mbps. It uses three antennas in MIMO 3T3R configuration for each band for maximum performance. All its ports are Gigabit Ethernet and it has a USB 3.0 port.

NETGEAR R7000 Nighthawk AC1900

This is the current top-of-band router from NETGEAR; it has simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi AC and can achieve transfer rates of up to 600Mbps in the 2.4GHz band and a speed up to 1300Mbps in the 5GHz band. All wired ports are Gigabit Ethernet and feature a USB 3.0 port on the front and a USB 2.0 port on the back. As for hardware, it has a dual-core processor at 1GHz with 256MB of RAM and 128MB of FLASH memory.
