Do you have aphantasia, or are you a super-visualizer?

How Good Is Your Mind's-Eye?

This might be surprising to you, whether you have it or not.

People with aphantasia don't realize that they're different from everybody else because nobody talks about visualizing things.

Chances are, they thought that "imaging things" inside your head as a form of meditation was a metaphor.

Conjure up an image of a friend or relative who you frequently see; how clearly can you see the contours of their face, head, shoulders and body?

Still imagining that friend or relative, how strongly can you see the characteristic poses of their head and body?

How well can you envision the way that friend or relative walks, the length of their step, for example?

Rate how vivid the colors of that person's clothes look in your mind?

Visualise a rising sun and look carefully at the details of that mental picture; how clearly do you see that sun rising above the horizon in a hazy sky?

Imagine the sky clearing and surrounding the sun with blueness, how vivid is that image?

Clouds appear in your sky and a lightning storm erupts - how well can you see it?

A rainbow appears in your sky, how well can you make it out?

You totally DON'T have aphantasia at all. In fact, you're quite the opposite. Lucky.

You're a super-visualizer!

You don't have aphantasia! In fact, you have better visualization than most people. However, you're still not a super-visualizer.

You have an above-average mind's-eye.

Well, you don't have a \*bad\* mind's-eye, but you don't necessarily have a \*good\* one either.

Your mind's-eye is average.

Your mind's-eye is worse than average, but at least you can ~sort of~ see an image. Too bad.

You have aphantasia!  
(to some degree)

So, by this point in the quiz you've probably been thinking to yourself "Wait, people can SEE things in their heads? What???" You're one of the 2% who can't see anything at all. Boo-hoo.
