11 Super Smart Hacks You Need If You Own A Cat

Because let's face it – cats can be nightmares.

1. Create a spot just for them, so they get up in yours less.

Create a nook just for your cat so they're less likely to knock over all your things. Put a cat bed, and some toys, or even just a box in a corner so they have their own area to go to.

2. Rub a dryer sheet on your clothes to get rid of cat hair.

If your cat treats leaving hair on you like a full-time job, you'll know the struggle. You can also put your hair-covered clothes into a dryer with a dryer sheet to get rid of it.

4. Clean up cat pee with bicarbonate of soda.

If your cat's peed on your bed or floor, soak up as much of it as you can and leave it to dry. Then to get rid of the odour, sprinkle bicarbonate of soda onto the area and leave for 15 minutes. Then just vacuum the soda away!

5. If you have more than one cat, make sure they each have their own stuff.

Cats don't like to share. Make sure they each have their own litter box, water dish, and food bowl. Also get multiple beds, scratching posts, and toys to keep the peace.

7. Hide their litter box under the stairs.

Utilise the cupboard space under your stairs by putting in a cat door. Your pet will have a space to call their own and it's a brilliant way to hide their litter box. You can even get doors with brushes on to brush off any excess litter.

8. Make a cat hammock using table or chair legs.

Tie or strap cloth to furniture legs for an easy hammock for your pet. You can also make a standalone hammock out of just a towel and a cardboard box.

9. Keep your cat's water dish away from their food.

Cats supposedly think that water near food is contaminated, so moving their water dish away from their food will encourage them to drink it. Cats are weird, guys.

10. Create an inexpensive scratching post out of carpet samples.

Grab a few carpet samples from a shop, and glue them onto a wooden frame or even a tube of cardboard for a budget scratching post your pet will love.

11. Use an activity feeder to ensure your cat eats a healthy amount.

Cats should eat in small amounts and often. Activity feeders, rather than shallow bowls, are the best way forward. Get your own here.
