Don't let those puppy eyes fool you: Pudge is a ruthless contender who will do whatever it takes to win A-Meow-Ican Idol, and that is what I like about her.

Flat-face cats are big this year, and Pudge knows how to work that angle to her advantage. Those confidently crossed paws and that turned-up nose say "I am a diva; I am a winner; I am the best at what I do ... count me out at your peril." Fierce.

2. Mister Pagoda

Mister Pagoda was rescued from a gang of feral cats in Montana, so he knows what it means to survive. I like his tenacity, his fearlessness, his perseverance, and his elegant pink kimono. Kind of a devastating combination.

3. Jasper

What impresses me about Jasper is that he is not afraid to hide in bubble wrap when the going gets tough. That is a supremely sensible thing to do and a useful lesson for all of us.

Speaking of courage, it takes a truly brave cat to wear a mustache like that and I salute him for it. Ten points for style.

4. Mow Mow

Mow Mow has a hipster thing going that totally works for her. Oversized vintage glasses and literally no other clothes at all is a radical new look that all the cool cats will be imitating next season if Mow Mow wins this thing.

5. Athena

Don't let those derpy cross-eyes fool you - behind that "gormless halfwit" gaze, Athena has a mind like a steel trap. OK, that is probably not strictly true, but she is cute as a freaking button and she looks like she is very soft, which is two for two in the categories that actually matter.

6. Berlioz Cuticle

Like the most famous symphony of his namesake, Berlioz is nothing short of fantastic. Boom. Nailed it. How did I get so good at this?

Be sure to note Berlioz Cuticle's impressive use of the feline "postural play response mechanism," also known as the "coochie coochie coo" maneuver. Powerful stuff.

7. Chili And Paddy

Chili and Paddy are a magnificently impressive double threat from straight out of Snuggle Town. Don't look directly into either their eyes unless you want to fall immediately and hopelessly in love.

According to her person, MeiMei "loves to play fetch and cuddle all day." Based on her strange glowing necklace, she may also be into the dark magics and the occult, so be careful with this one.

Drogo fell six stories and lived! This is a true amazing story about Drogo. Inspirational, certainly, but nowhere near as inspiring as the excellent work he can do with a paper bag. This guy's a superstar.
