    10. Pretending to be asleep doesn’t work

A young boy is sleeping in his bed on a usual night. He hears footsteps outside his door, and peeks out of his eyes to see what is happening. His door swings open quietly to reveal a murderer carrying the corpses of his parents. After silently propping them up on a chair, he writes something on the wall in the blood of the dead bodies. He then hides under the childs bed.The child is scared beyond belief. He can’t read the writing on the wall and he knows the man is under his bed. Like any child, he pretends that he slept through the whole thing and hasn’t awoken yet. He lays still as the bodies, quietly hearing the breathes from under his bed.An hour passes, and his eyes are adjusting more and more to the darkness. He tries to make out the words, but it’s a struggle. He gasps when he finally makes out the sentence.“I know you’re awake”. He feels something shift underneath his bed

    9. The bus ride

I sat on the bus, on my way to school. Listening to music, and paying little to no attention to the other students. At one of the stops my mind snapped back to reality. I looked towards the small house. Tommy’s house, I thought. A hand slipped through the drapes of the window and waved the bus driver to move on. ‘He’s sick’, I thought, paying no large amount of attention to the situation. The day flew by. I watched the local news channel after school, and what I heard paralyzed me. Tommy’s entire family was murdered that day by an unknown suspect. After hearing this news, I moved back up to my room and quietly fell asleep. The next day, I sat on the bus. We drove past Tommy’s house and the bus driver, unaware of Tommy’s families fate, stopped at his home. As I was about to get up and explain to her what had happened, something caught my eye. A pale hand slipped through the drapes of the window, and waved the bus driver to move on. I sat on the bus, terrified.

    8. The ghost at home

Last night a friend rushed me out of the house to catch the opening act at a local bar’s music night. After a few drinks I realized my phone wasn’t in my pocket. I checked the table we were sitting at, the bar, the bathrooms, and after no luck I used my friend’s phone to call mine. After two rings someone answered, gave out a low raspy giggle, and hung up. They didn’t answer again. I eventually gave it up as a lost cause and headed home. I found my phone laying on my nightstand, right where I left it

    7. My Daughter Learned to Count

My daughter woke me around 11:50 last night. My wife and I had picked her up from her friend Sally's birthday party, brought her home, and put her to bed. My wife went into the bedroom to read while I fell asleep watching the Braves game."Daddy," she whispered, tugging my shirt sleeve. "Guess how old I'm going to be next month.""I don't know, beauty," I said as I slipped on my glasses. "How old?"She smiled and held up four fingers. It is 7:30 now. My wife and I have been up with her for almost 8 hours. She still refuses to tell us where she got them. -RealScience87

    6. Doppleganger

Late at night I usually go to the bathroom multiple times but for the past 4 days, every time I go to leave, I can see myself still standing in the mirror from the corner of my eye. It is like the other me is watching me leave the bathroom. It terrifies me to the point where I almost run out without looking directly at the mirror. I never told my husband about it because I didn't want to acknowledge it out loud.Earlier today I took a nap in our bed while he sat in the chair next to it watching TV. When I woke up he told me that he had seen me sit up and crawl backwards to the edge of the bed and stand up in front of our bedroom door from the corner of his eye. He thought it was weird that I got up like that because I'm in the last month of my pregnancy and I can't really move so good without it hurting, so he tried talking to me. When I didn't answer he looked at the door to find me not there and still sleeping in bed. I got really creeped out and I finally told him about what I have been seeing in the bathroom. He thought it was creepy as well but didn't want to really talk about it anymore because he thinks it will give whatever it is power or energy. I have no idea what it wants or why we both saw it. -quietvoice4846

    5. The stereo from hell

When I was a kid and my parents first started letting me stay at home by myself without a baby sitter the large stereo we had in the finished part of our basement just turns on and starts blasting music. It was after midnight, the music was insanely loud so there was no ignoring it so 8 or 9 year old me had to go down into the basement and turn it off. Everything you’re not supposed to do in a horror movie I did and I survived but every light in the house stayed on until my parents got home later that night.I still don’t know why it turned on but I messed around with it a lot so I must have turned on some sort of alarm or timer or something earlier that day. That’s what I’m choosing to believe anyway.

    4. Cell checks

I work at a Max security prison and we have several inmates who are severely mentally ill. The ones that self harm wear a Fitbit kind of thing to monitor heart rate if there is a change we rush their room to stop whatever is happening. On top of this we also do visual inspections. On one round a coworker was doing cell checks and noticed this particular inmate had blood on their face but nothing came up on the monitors or anything. So he called to the inmates to ask if they were okay, the inmate had their eyes closed and just kept repeating, "it doesn't hurt". The inmate would not answer where the blood was from. We opened the cell to see what the situation was and it turns out the inmate had plucked out both of there eyes and they were laying on the floor. The inmates HR monitor never alerted and the inmate never screamed. Paramedics said the inmates vitals were normal and the inmate was fully responsive. -leatherstrap309

    3. The mysterious tree

My father once told me about when he was a farmer boy and cow herder in South Asia. At the end of the day of work, He would have to tie cows at one end of a post but was commanded by my grandma and many elder folks to walk the long way around back home and not take the straight path back at night because it is said a Jinn (an Islamic mythical being which is made out of smokeless fire which is unseen but can harm humans) family lives in a Tree on that road, and known to be hostile at night. One night, however, my dad decided to just ignore the folklore and talk the straight path back to get home quicker. Once he reached the point of passing by the tree he made it a mental note to walk passed it quickly. He claims however that as he passed it the tree started to move behind him. As in it was stretching toward him eventually falling on him and he was stuck under it keep in mind trees in South Asia grow fairly tall so the unusual behavior had him frozen in fear. He claimed to start reciting prayers and the tree eventually went back to its original position where he ran back home and told my grandma what happened.

    2. Us?

My mother was a Call Center agent of some big company. It was already midnight and she had to go home. She felt like using the toilet when the clock struck 3:00am, which is the time she will go home after her graveyard shift. She hurried to the toilet and was on time. She was texting to her fellow office mates who are going home from work. And after finishing her text, she heard the sound of phone buttons being clicked; hence she was the only one inside the restroom. After she finished, she checked some of the stalls to see if someone is inside one of them. She found out there was no one inside, which resulted her in paranoia and frustration. When she washed her hands, she heard it again and checked the stalls with no one inside it. This made her have a feeling of "fuck this shit, I'm out" after hearing the same sound of buttons ring clicked again. At the time, she was using an old Nokia 3310; which you probably guessed it is from the 2000's. No one knows if there are doppelgängers inside the office or not. The only person who knows it is my mother. -Karl-Jensen

    1. This is why I don’t work the late shift

Was working midnights at a gas station. A couple came in trying to get behind the register. They went outside and left. I went in the bathroom and called the police. Who came as they were coming back in. They had bags, knives, a gun, rope, and various other weapons in the trunk. I don’t think they planned on me living. I was hiding in the bathroom when they were trying to come back in
