Justina Machado stars as an overworked matriarch just trying to keep it together in this modernized version of Norman Lear's iconic 1970s sitcom. The rare show to center a Latinx family, this version of One Day At a Time will give you the perfect blend of contemporary nostalgia. Come for Rita Moreno, stay for literally everything else.

    2. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The CW

If Glee did original songs instead of covers and featured a grown up, depressed lawyer version of Rachel Berry, you'd have Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The fact that Donna Lynne Champlin and Rachel Bloom never received acting nominations is a crime against good taste. However, it will live forever on Netflix and you can enjoy it there.

    3. Gentleman Jack, BBC One/HBO

This show has it all. An androgynous protagonist, a cryptic diary, Victorian intrigue…what more could you ask for? Suranne Jones knocks it out of the park as Anne Lister, the real-life writer of a 4 million word diary that gave her a legendary reputation as the first modern lesbian. The Television Academy may have forgotten this gem, but we won't.

    4. Desus & Mero, Showtime

In a late night landscape dominated by white guys in suits, The Bodega Boys are easily the most exciting. The banter between Desus Nice and The Kid Mero is hilarious, and watching them play off each other while riffing on current events makes you feel like your cool uncles are telling you the news. Bodega Hive for life.

    5. Late Night with Seth Meyers, NBC

Yes, Seth Meyers is technically a white guy in a suit, and it's not like people don't watch Late Night. But it's on this list because…what else does this show need to do to get nominated for Outstanding Variety-Talk Series?! From A Closer Look to Jokes Seth Can't Tell to GOT Watch Parties with Leslie Jones, Late Night has the most unique segments in the genre. DAY DRINKING WITH RIHANNA. Make it make sense Television Academy.

    6. Tuca and Bertie, Netflix

Imagine if Bert and Ernie were ladies, and instead of puppets they were a toucan and a song thrush. That's Tuca and Bertie! Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong star in this Netflix animated series about the ups, downs and in-betweens of female friendship. Grab some wine and cookies, watch it with your bestie and reaffirm your love.

    7. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, FXX

This show has been on for 13 seasons, so maybe it's a little hard for you to start it now unless you've got a year or so to spare. If nothing else, watch the dance number in which Mac (Rob McElheney) comes out to his dad. This quiet sitcom about four jerks and Danny Devito will break your heart.

    8. Sex Education, Netflix

Going through puberty? Hell. Going through puberty while your mom is a sex therapist? THE WORST. Sex Education honestly tackles teen sexuality in all it's hormonal glory. You'll watch these kids fumble through romantic misadventures (or just general misadventures) and it'll take you back to your own high school saga.

    9. Shrill, Hulu

Not enough people are talking about Shrill. NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT SHRILL. Under-appreciated at work and misunderstood by her parents, Annie Easton's struggle to assert herself is universal. But more specifically, Annie is the rare plus-sized protagonist who doesn't want to change her body. The show stars Aidy Bryant and the first season is only six episodes, what are you waiting for?

    10. Homecoming, Amazon Prime Video

This one's confusing, since Homecoming has been nominated for a million awards since it premiered at the end of last year. Julia Roberts graces our television screens and no Emmy nomination?? Shameful. But this psychological thriller is anything but. One episode in and you'll become obsessed with finding out what Heidi Bergman (Roberts) and Walter Cruz (Stephan James) are hiding.

    11. Better Things, FX

After a writers room and executive producer shake-up, Better Things came back better than ever for its third season about a working actress raising three daughters. As if writing, producing, and starring in her own show wasn't enough, Pamela Adlon also directed every episode of the season. She can do it all by her damn self, thank you very much.

    12. Good Omens, BBC Two/Amazon Prime Video

David Tennant and Michael Sheen play an angel and a demon working together to prevent the end of the world. That premise alone should win 10 Emmys. But honestly, this show could be about anything as long as it featured Tennant and Sheen in these roles. Watching Aziraphale (Sheen) and Crowley (Tennant) try to pretend they aren't each other's best friend will put you in a good mood all week.
