    Feelings About The Election

This is something I posted the day after the election, but I feel like it is still relevant and will always be relevant as long as Trump is in office.

    The Day After

    A post from Nov. 9, 2016

"So people messaged me this morning asking if I am okay. No. I am not. I am terrified. 1) I am Black. 2) I am a woman. 3) I speak out on social injustices every day whether it's on Facebook, Twitter, or in person (I get attacked enough for this already). I am not scared because Donald Trump is the 45th president (and he is not my president). I am afraid of the racist people in this country that will try to hurt me, my people, women, LGBTQ people and supporters, and other minority groups. Donald Trump becoming president will now make these people think they have been given the right and permission to hurt those that are not like them. I have never felt more afraid to be a Black woman in America than I do right now. This is not a joke."

I felt that it was important to bring this back because, again, it is relevant, and because I wanted to remind people of the world we are living in. Too often when something big happens, we tend to stop talking about it a week or two later; due to other things in our lives that crave our attention and because media has a tendency to stray from what is truly important. This is something that needs to be talked about. This presidential election effects the lives of so many and we need to care. I hope that this is a reminder that we need to come together and stick together so that we can work and grow together. Together we are stronger.
