Saturday night, police were called to the Volmer's South Austin home. Nicole and Michael Volmer's 15-year-old daughter called 911 after an argument between her parents lead to a shot being fired. According to an arrest affidavit, Michael Volmer told police the gun accidentally went off when he threw it on the bed. Nicole Volmer was taken to the hospital but died from her injuries.

"It was just the most shocking thing in the world. We never ever expected that this would happen," says Scott Volmer, who is Michael Volmer's step-son.

Following her death, Scott has two goals -- honor his mom and care for his siblings ages 15, 12, 10 and seven. Scott explains, his sixth sibling passed away before their mother's death.
