5 TV Shows 2000's Canadian Kids Forgot About

Get ready for some serious unexpected nostalgia, my friend.

1. 7 Little Monsters

This oddly charming Canadian-Chinese-Philippine production aired on YTV from 2003-2007 after a having aired on PBS in 2000.

It's 3 season run was produced by Nelvana, the company who made some of our other favourite shows such as Cyberchase and Pippi Longstockings. It's theme was preformed by the Barenaked Ladies and the show featured such Canadian comedians as Sean Cullen, Debra McGrath, and Colin Mocherie. Does that bald guy have to do a cameo on everything?

2. What's With Andy?

Based on a series of books by Andy Griffith, this show aired from 2001-2007 on Teletoon in three seasons.

The titular character Andy was voiced by Ian James Corlett, and trust me, when you watch the opening titles you will remember this mischievous school boy.

3. Pig City

Another Teletoon/CineGroupe series, this show revolved around, you guessed it, pigs. In a city.

I must admit that aside from the animation bringing back memories there's not much I remember about this show. I do remember one pig being very angry though,

Either way, the show aired from 2002-2004 and 39 episodes over the span of 3 seasons. Not bad pigs, not bad.

4. Monster By Mistake

A show that would mostly likely make modern kids cringe at its animation, this series revolved around a young boy named Warren who turned into a monster every time he sneezed. Cold and flu season must've been a nightmare. Need any more details? Just listen to the theme song, he'll explain the whole debacle in song.

This show aired from 1996-2003 on YTV.

If you're reading this thinking, "Hey, I remember that show!", you may want to go check out those old VHS tapes of yours because some of the episodes of this show are very hard to find. And I'm certain there's some enormous Monster By Mistake fan out there just dying to get their hands on a copy of them.

5. Sesame Park

Sesame Park was not a ripoff but in fact a Canadian edition of the classic PBS show Sesame Street, muppets and all, that aired from 1996-2001 on CBC.

Sesame Street had been on the air in Canada since 1972 but only changed over from Canadian Sesame Street to Sesame Park in the mid-nineties. New characters were introduced such as Basil the Bear and Katie. It blended Sesame Street clips with new adventures from Sesame Park characters. Some segments were shown to teach French the same way its American predecessor teaches Spanish to viewers. It was a muppetational viewing experience.
